BYU has played one of the toughest schedules in the country. They won on prayers at Nebraska and against Boise before losing a heart breaker at the Rose Bowl last week. To expect them to travel to Michigan and play a competitive game at virtually 10 am their times was asking way too much. They are tired and need to play a breather game. Give them credit for the schedule, with no conference they have to do this, but there is no way they're going to be able to get up week after week when you open with 3 road games like Nebraska, UCLA and Michigan. As for Oregon - they looked bad but Locke is not going to make anyone forget Mariotta. This doesn't look like a good year for the Ducks but at least they get to wear new uniforms every week. Oregon has no defense. They gave up 42 to Div-1aa Eastern Washington whose best player had transfered to UO. Marriota masked a lot of problems.

Bama is still loaded with talent and will certainly be coming in with a chip on their shoulder. This is about as close to an elimination game as you can get for Bama. My money is on Bama on this one. if they only had a QB to go with that load of talent.

Couple of things. 1) Kentucky has two cupcakes and an OOC against Louiville(at home) on the schedule, four winnable SEC games , and one game(UGa) in which they will be more than a TD underdog. 10 wins could happen given a decent performance in a bowl game. Its been decades since a Kentucky team won 10 dfootball games. Pat Towels might be the best QB in the SEC! I know that is faint praise but true none the less. BTW Patricks GrandDad is Jim Bunning of baseball and US Senate fame. If he's the best QB in the SEC? Then, this conference's QB's SUCK. Patrick is still young, and improving. He might well be the best prospect. But, my gosh... He is still a work IN PROGRESS. You got a better candidate? The SEC QBs suck.

So why can't the SEC produce its own coaches ? .....and why can't the SEC produce top coaches for the highest level of the sport ? Those who can't play, coach. Maybe the SEC is producing players, not coaches. No SEC team would have recruited Saban in his youth... One of those brainiac Big 10 schools need to get him....the Big 10 has gotten an F overall for coaches, that's why they're so bad... The good coaches they do get are at the top immediately...Meyer, and possibly Harbaugh this year. Why is the SEC so successful? just look at the influx of coaches.... By the way, how long is Charlie Strong at Texas? I bet he's out at the end of the year...who would Texas target? wouldn't surprise me if they looked at Saban again College football is a coachs medium. Mark my words Harbaugh will have an immediate at UM in much the same way as Meyer at tOSU. I don't know if Stoops is the real deal yet but he looks promising.

I have followed Mark Stoops since he was D coordinator at Az working for his brother Mike. The Az team fell apart when Mark left to be D coordinator at Florida. Now after an uneventfull first year where the Wildcats only won a few games and showed good progress in 2014 where they broke about even it looks like the Wildcats could win as many as 10 games this year. Just goes to show the impact of a really good QB and solid coach can have on a perenial loser like Kentucky. If they have the sucess I think they can have this year what are the odds Stoops will be there in 2016? or 2017?

#1 Ohio State vs. # 4 Georgia Tech #2 Ole Miss vs. #3 Alabama As bad as the SEC looked overall, they still have top teams that could break through.... I think Ole Miss might have a really good team this year....the good thing about this projection is we actually get to see Ole Miss-Bama next week. I might even put the winner of that game as #1 I'm still sold on Georgia Tech as well, and they got lucky with ND star quaterback Zaire going out for the season. Georgia Tech should roll through South Bend On the bubble: FSU, LSU, Clemson, Michigan State, USC, UCLA, BYU, TCU, Baylor, Oklahoma Same o same o SEC BS. Oregon if it wins out is in. TCU or Baylor with one loss is in. Clemson with one loss is in. USC with one loss is in. What are you smoking must be the same stuff as B90

Patterson made a LOT of enemies....in a hurry. Pissing off Red McCombs is not a smart way to start a career at Texas. Charlie will get fair treatment. My guess is, he gets one more year. But, no more than that unless there's real improvement. If Strong had been a winner Red McCombs would have to go pound sand. On the other hand Strong is likely a disaster so Patterson has no support from anyone!

ESPN has toned down the love for the SEC overall, not just Finebaum, thats based on what I am hearing. The tone now is "Good conference, could be the best, but not heads and shoulders above the rest".
