Alabama stays clearly at the number 1 spot. TAM was it in for 2.5 quarters but you just felt like they were hanging on. In the 3rd quarter when TAM held BAMA to a stop with the lead then committed a personal foul to give them the first down changed the game and the flood gates were opened.
tOSU showed that they do have a great defense but they got some serious issues to address on offense. The got a hungry PSU team off a by week in a night game in bad weather and were simply unable to show any signs of consistency on offense. In the past once Urban's teams got a loss it seemed to light a fire. We'll see if this team has that Mojo.
scUM is starting to put a little separation between the 2 and 3 spot. Still have some tests down the road with MSU next week and Iowa and tOSU on the road.
WVU is really starting to feel like the real deal. There QB is very accurate and seem to have some athletic receivers that are making tough plays. Plus the fact that they actually have a defense makes them a legitimate threat. Who gets in if it is a 0 loss WVU vs. a 1 loss tOSU Big Ten champ. I would think WVU gets the edge on that one.
A bit of a shuffle for the CFP. At this point 5 teams control there destiny scUM, Nebraska, Alambama, Clemson, and Washington. Everyone else needs help
1 Alabama 2 scUM 3 Washington 4 Clemson
3 and 4 could be swapped but I think UW just seems to be playing better.
No Loss P5 7 Nebraska, Michigan, Alabama, Washington Clemson,Baylor, West Virginia
1 Loss P5 5 Florida, Louisville, Utah, Ohio State, Texas AM
0 Loss G5 2 Boise St, Western Michigan

The knock on WVU was: They hadn't beaten anyone with a winning record. Well, TCU did... and, WVU throttled them. I still think the Mountaineers have a real shot at going undefeated. If they do? I think they're in the CFP.... even w/o a CCG.

West Virginia and Baylor need to be taken seriously, although I think Oklahoma is going to win the Big Xii
Washington has a hard test against Utah this weekend
Clemson visits Tallahassee this weekend...
Alabama has serious games against LSU and Auburn still
Personally, I'm hoping Louisville makes it into the playoff...I think they've got the best offense in college football right now

Louisville won’t have another chance at a marquee victory. Florida State is and will be their best win. They need the Noles to finish a strong 10-2.
Down the stretch, they play Virginia, Wake Forest, BC, Houston, and Kentucky. Their only matchup with a premier opponent resulted in a loss.
Meanwhile in other leagues, teams at the top/near the top will have premier matchups, beefing up their resume while Louisville is feasting on cupcakes.
Clearly the polls believe in UL, but will the committee? Looking at the schedules, I just don’t see much chance for TWO 3-loss P5 conference champs.
UL’s best chance to make the playoff is to either win the ACC, or to have the ACC degenerate into some kind of mess with a 3-loss champ (mostly likely from the Coastal) and a 2-3 loss Clemson.
According to the CFP guidelines, conference championships and head-to-head are supposed to be key factors.

It is going to be extremely tough for Louisville to break in before a conference champ even if they have 2 losses (other than Big 12). For that to happen Clemson will need to lose 2 of their next 4 games which is highly unlikely. When you look at the committee and the selection process. They ranked Stanford which was a 2 loss conference champ above Ohio State who was had one loss but did not make it to the championship game.

Should Clemson beat FSU Saturday, Clemson may even be ranked #1 in the first CFP ranking.
They would have wins over the #5, #12 AND #15 teams.
WVU creeping, but I think they have a tough slog of B12 action left.
Assuming Clemson wins out, they'll likely draw *ichigan or tOSU, while Bama will get to plow through either Washington or the B12 winner like a sorority girl working her way through the quad.

I have really enjoyed Washington's PAC12 takeover.

From ESPN: The AP top five at Week 9 last season was Ohio State, Baylor, Clemson, LSU, and TCU. They were a combined 36-0. Only one made the College Football Playoff, and the other four ended the regular season with a combined record of 9-9. Don't expect chalk over the final few weeks.
Lots of football left, and you can bet on at least a couple of crazy bounces.

Bama should be able to handle 'open' but the others have difficult challenges.
