The media is always incredibly generous when it comes to USC....I think they are the official media darlings of college football
Are they really the 3rd best team? I think FSU or Michigan would have blown them out

On the other hand, if there was a playoff for 2016 I think USC and OU would've had a chance to make a deep run...just like Bama and Clemson.

I don't think USC and Oklahoma would have made a run...Clemson and Alabama would have shut them down We've gotten the two best teams the last 2 years. The only team that could have challenged was FSU, and they lost to Clemson... Oklahoma also lost to Ohio State earlier in the year, why should they get another chance? USC was destroyed by Alabama once already How many chances does a team need to prove itself?

Early season games are irrelevant in projecting how evolving and improving teams might do in a real December/January playoff. If Clemson can put up 500+ yds on Bama there's a good chance the OU explosive offense might have good success also, don't you think ? Bama and Clemson emerged as the final two in the 'Invitational' and would have had great chances to emerge as the final two in a playoff but some other teams playing great late season ball might also make playoff runs. We'll never know...at least for many more years.
