These roster counts must really vary among sites. I can't imagine 56 FSU guys on current active rosters. For example ESPN's' NFL players by college' right after final cuts showed 41 total FSU guys and that includes practice squads.According to its count on opening day : FSU-41 Miami-41 Bama -39 Florida -39 LSU -39 USC -36 The only way to really know, I guess, would be to go to the NFL.com rosters and count 'em up ourselves.

There are players on the reserve roster of each team. I think 9 players/team currebtly allowed who are under contract but not acrivated until an active player is declared inactive.

Did you people know this?
After being on this board for 7 years, I've become convince that ALL the GOOD players came from DIII and Ivy League schools!

With ZERO media hype on their side the champ division boys have done surprisingly well, don't you think ? ...92 Pro HOFers from lower divisions out of 288 enshrined. 256 on opening day 2015 NFL rosters, including 15 Ivy League players.. Montana's 9 NFL ers is as mich or more than 57 FBS schools can claim.

I know there are 9 on practice squads and typically a few on injured reserve. Your post referenced 'active' rosters. That's only 53 per team. I feel confident that if you took a couple of hours to count the 'active' plavers no school would have 56.
