So... MamaBevo and I are heading to Vegas on Thursday to relax and attend a Super Bowl Party at the Paris Casino.
Ive been looking at the various Prop bets... some are just hilarious. Here are a few examples:
- What color will Lady Gaga's hair be when she first appears? Blonde 1/4, Any other color? 5/2
- How many times will "Trump" be mentioned... from Kickoff to final whistle? (Not counting commercials) Over/under 1.5
- Will "Houston, we have a problem" be said on TV during live broadcast? Yes 5/2, No 1/4
- Will EITHER team score in the last 2 minutes of the 1st half? Yes -105, No + 105 (I'm planning to bet YES on this one)
- Will EITHER team score in the last 3.5 minutes of the game (Overtime is included). Yes -155, NO + 120 (I'm betting YES on this one too)
- Coin Flip Head or Tails... - 102 for either. (I'm DEFINITELY betting this one... BEST odds of the day!)
- Will either team score three straight times? YES -190, NO +170 (I'm thinking to bet NO on this)
- Total Yardage of ALL TD's Over/Under 100.5 (I'm thinking OVER on this... should be some longer ones)
- Will the opening kickoff result in a touchback? YES -200, NO +160 (I'm betting a LOAD on YES... free money)
- Total Number of penalties? Over under 12.5 (I'm thinking, UNDER... these teams don't commit many penalties)
- Longest Reception by Julio Jones? Over/under 25.5 (Are you kidding me? OVER, BABY!)
- What color will the liquid be that is poured on the winning coach?
Clear 3/1
Lime/green 3/1
Orange 3/1
Yellow 3/1
Red 6/1
Blue 15/2
Purple 12/
(I'm thinking.. RED... for the Falcons! )

So...In prepping for this game, two key stats have really jumped out at me:
1) New England's defense is NOT that good. The two offenses are both excellent. But, Atlanta's defense is, statistically, MUCH better than New England.
2) The Patriots have LIVED off turnovers this year. They have the best differential in the league. On the other side, Atlanta turns the ball over almost the LEAST of anybody.
I think, Atlanta is going to win this game, going away.... and, this is going to be one AWESOME betting opportunity.

JMO, but this is Atlanta's time....great team, new stadium. It's all coming together. At some point, the New England armor has to wear off as well....they've been going strong for quite awhile now....at some point Brady will wake up and actually be 39 I also noticed in the Pro Bowl, some of Drew Brees passes are starting to come up short....we're moving into the next generation of the NFL with new stars and new teams, ala Dallas and Atlanta

Not sure where I saw these stats... but, in the interest of GETTING IT RIGHT... they are WRONG! New England's defense has been, statistically, MUCH better than Atlanta this year... Here is a good analysis

New England doesn't have the #1 defense...not sure where they got that from They are #1 against scoring. Not that great on yards. They also lead in turnovers.. and have played against a bunch of truly shitty offenses.

So, here were our FINAL choices on Prop Bets:
LOST:
Will either team score three times in a row? (We said NO, at +170..... both teams did!) Will Blount score a TD? (I said YES, at +200..... he did not) Longest FG over 45 yards (Atlanta SHOULD have kicked two of these....!) Total Score: 51-60 points (pays 11-2.... this bet was good until the game was tied.... ugh)
WON:
Will New England convert a 4th down attempt? (MamaBevo bet YES at 11/2..... they did) Will there be a missed XP? (I think it paid 5/1? Another MamaBevo bet.... she had Gostkowski on her fantasy team!) Coin toss (TAILS at -105. I was WINNING before the game evens started. GW Bush loves TAILS!) James White to be OVER 26 yards rushing/receiving.... (at -110. Boy, did THAT one win easily!) Will Freeman score a rushing TD? (YES, at -120) Will there be a Defensive or Special Team TD (YES! At + 220) Will either team score in the last 2 minutes of the first half? (YES, at +140) Will either team score in the last 3.5 minutes of the game, including OT) (YES! at + 170) Will the opening Kickoff be a touchback? (YES, at -200, I actually bet $200 on this... Wish I'd bet a LOT more) Brady Passing yards ( OVER 296 yards.... -110.... I thought Atlanta would win, which... would me the Pats would be passing) Will New England score a TD in the first quarter? ( I bet NO, at +200... made an pretty big wager on this. I was cheering WILDLY at the end of the first quarter!) Total Points in the first half. (UNDER 28.5.... I really liked this bet too...) Will there be an OT? (6/1 I always bet a little on this.... it was small compensation for what happened.)
We did so well on the props.... just a shame that we didn't win the game bets....

I was worried about Blount, but he was shut down pretty good....
That Atlanta D played over their heads IMO...they did what they had to

I was worried about Blount, but he was shut down pretty good.... That Atlanta D played over their heads IMO...they did what they had to In the first half, yea... In the second half? No way. They couldn't get to Brady. That was the difference. In the first half, they got to him.. hit him, pressured him... and, he looked very mortal. In the second half? They just couldn't get there... and, he 'locked into the groove".
