Last September, I bet $100 on UK to win the BB title at 7/1 odds. It was a leap of faith. I knew they had a great class coming in.
Last week, in Vegas, Kentucky was STILL the top pick, at 4/1. Puh-lease... I've had a chance to watch these guys now. They should be 26/1. And that would be a sucker bet.
They are extremely talented, no doubt. But, VERY immature. There are a dozen or more upper-class men laden teams that can knock them out. 4/1 is an insanely BAD bet.

It depends upon which side of the bet you are on...

Yes.... They started the year looking VERY strong. I wrongly assumed they would get even better. Instead, they regressed.
On paper, they have all the positions covered. Big man? check (Bam, and a backup), Point guard? check (Briscoe and Fox are as good as any), Scoring forward? Check... Monk CAN BE the best in the country, or... the worst... also some depth with Willis and Gabriel.
They are starting to play a little better on defense... so, that gives some hope. But, seriously... just look at them. They look like a bunch of little boys against some of these senior-laden teams. If HALF of this team returned next year? They might be the best college team of all time. But, they won't.... we'll be starting all over again... sigh....
I HATE "One and done"....
PS>>> Double Ugh.... I checked my ticket from Sept... I only got 5/1.

I HATE "One and done".... Better than UCLA with Jabbar. Better than UCLA with Walton. Better than the Runnin Rebels. Better than Phi Slamma Jamma. Better than Jordan's Tar Heels. Here is a write up of the '96 Wildcats.

No team under today's rules can ever match those of the past. Truly great players will nearly always leave, at least before their senior year.
I'll amend my statement to say: If HALF of these guys came back next year, UK would waltz their way to the title game.

Much better. It is sad to think the impact on college BB. The teams I named may never be equaled because of the DUKE one and done. How simple to destroy one of the greatest sports ever.

That 1996 Kentucky team was amazing. Most of those Pitino / Kentucky teams were so much fun to watch.
