One of my favorite coaches ever has stepped away. So...who takes over my Gamecocks??? The team has made massive upgrades in facilities to now...they're as nice as Bama or anyone elses. They pay a lot. 4 million a year minimum. Manageable SEC East. Fans want to win...but won't call for firings over an 8 win season. Win the SEC you'll be a legend and get a statue.
Great beaches. Low cost of living. Fertile recruiting ground surrounds this state within driving distance. Modest expectations. And Spurrier showed it can be done.
We keep hearing Kirby Smart, a Stoops, and even Chip Kelly.
Thoughts? Who can be a 9 game winner and possibly get USC to Atlanta?

Lot of talk around here about Brian Brohm going to Columbia. He's the current head coach at Western Kentucky.
He's very young. Sort of a local legend here in Louisville. He was UNDEFEATED as a starting QB in High School. Yep, his Trinity team won the State Championship twice. Of course, he couldn't live up to that standard at Louisville, but... he was very successful. He was a good assistant coach here. Got a shot at HC at Western, and has them ROLLING now.
Can't say he's really PROVEN himself just yet. But, he should be the kind of guy USC might give a shot to.

Tressel or Schiano would be great choices

Tom was the offensive coordinator at tOSU last year when they were a monster. they reverted to normal after he left.

CORRECTION:
Jeff Brohm is the coach at Western Ky being mentioned for the USC job. He is Brian Brohms older brother, and was the OC here at UL when Brian was recruited.
I was, confused....
Brian is actually still playing football, in Canada.

If South Carolina wants Herman they may have to fight the other USC for him. I don't know if Herman will be hired by any major program after only one year of HC experience, but that does not mean I don't think they should. I think if USC West gets him WATCH OUT starting next season, Herman could quickly get them back to the way they were playing in the Pete Carrol Era. USC East? It might take a couple years to recruit the talent to get South Carolina to a place where they'd be competing for championships.

There is a South Carolina grad currently coaching big time football as we speak. His team is undefeated this year, won major bowl games the past 2 years while finishing in the top 5 and is 29-3 over the past 2+ seasons. The hints should give it away but if not, I'm talking about Mark Dantonio. I think he would be a perfect fit but he probably is very comfortable where he is. I'd hate to see him leave the Big Ten and again, they'll probably look for someone a little younger but I don't think there are many coaches better than him and he does it with integrity.
