AFC
All year there were really only 3 teams that could compete...the Patriots, Jags, and Steelers. The Chargers were good, but put themselves too much in a hole for a playoff run. There is definitely room for new teams to make a run...
New England- whatever happens in the offseason will determine how the Patriots will perform next year. Both coordinators are gone. The Malcolm Butler situation is weird. There's a feeling that things might be falling apart
Pittsburgh- How much longer will Ben Roethesberger play? IMO they really need to shore up their D to be a real contender.
Jacksonville- they aren't perfect, but they have a young phenomenal D. They'll be back in the playoffs next year. Bortles is Trent Dilferesque in my mind...he's not Brady, but be can do enough to win
Houston- A healthy Deshaun Watson turns Houston into a real contender. Another draft could help Houston make a serious run at the Super Bowl
Kansas City- I think the Chiefs have problems...they need a good QB and some more star power on D.
Cleveland- I think the Browns will be the next team to make a turn-around. They'll have a new coach, a ton of draft picks, and they already have a good D-Line. They have a chance to be the next Jacksonville if they are smart
NFC
The NFC is very competitive right now. There are so many good teams right now, it's hard to say who the top team is
New Orleans- The Saints are a serious contender as long as Drew Brees keeps playin. They have excellent RBs with Ingram and Kamara. The D is getting better. I think they can make a serious run at the Super Bowl next year. Super Bowl or bust for the Saints in 2018
Philadelphia- the Eagles have a QB controversy brewing, but the future is bright. I think they'll be right back in the hunt next year. They can't let the D slip though
Green Bay- Aaron Rodgers will be back, and the Packers will be dangerous again. Can they dethrone the Vikings in the North?
Minnesota- things won't be as easy for the Vikings in 2018...Aaron Rodgers will be back, and the Lions are sneaky good. Who will be the Vikings QB in '18? Can Case Keenum do it again? They need to get better on the offensive side of the ball
Dallas- Dak Prescott and Ezekial Elliot can't do it alone. The Cowboys need some help on defense, and probably need a new WR. It's going to take some work to get back to where they were in 2016
Atlanta- the Falcons still remain very loaded on both sides of the ball. They need some kind of identity on offense...Sarkisian has struggled with the offensive playcalling. They need to put Vic Beasley in a position to make sacks. They are very good though
Carolina- they are still a contender as long as they dominate defensively... Macaffrey was a stud. Cam Newton needs to play better. They are playoff-caliber, they just need to shore up a few areas.
LA Rams- they have the beginnings of a real contender. Goff has to continue to progress. They need more pieces on offense, and maybe a better secondary
Seattle- they are slipping. Russell Wilson is awesome, but they need a good RB (wtf has happened to Eddie Lacy?). They need to get the Legend of Boom back. Maybe draft some new faces on D
Early predictions
AFC Championship: Houston vs. Jacksonville
I think Houston emerges as a real player next year, and I don't see a lot of drop off with Jacksonville. The AFC Championship will be a South affair.
NFC Championship: New Orleans vs. Philadelphia
When the Saints get hot, they are hard to stop. The Eagles will get back to the NFC Championship behind Pederson and Wentz.
Super Bowl: Jacksonville over New Orleans
Jacksonville was close this year, but in 2018, they win it all behind a strong D.
