Xavier is a #1 seed and #3 team in the country based on the projections. For those of you who don't know much about the little school on Victory Avenue in Cincinnati, you can't imagine what a monumental feat this is. Xavier is 3 miles away from UC (which happens to currently be a 2 seed) with the difference being X has about 4,500 students, UC has around 40,000. I've worked here for almost 20 years and if ever there was a team that completely embodies the mission of its university, it's Xavier. It's all about community here and it would be so cool to see them reach the Final Four. I'd be so happy for all the Xavier community because they're the ones who made this happen. They put their money where their dreams were.
Are they one of the top 4 teams in the country? I don't know. They're very good and play well together. They go 9 or 10 deep. they can score inside and have several players who can shoot the 3. They're the only team to beat Butler at Butler. The only team to beat Creighton at Creighton. They beat UC by close to 20 points. They beat Baylor who just beat Kansas. They beat St. Johns twice - something Duke and Villanova couldn't do.
They play Seton Hall, Villanova, @georgetown, @depaul and Providence remaining on their schedule. If they go 4-1 with one of the wins being Villanova, they'll win the Big East. Here's hoping they finish strong. with a little luck I may be heading to San Antonio for Easter!

Doc I think Xavier is good enough to win the national title, with a few breaks. One of the things that scares me about them being a 1 seed is the possibility of them meeting up with an 8# seed in Kentucky who's streaky, on a good day Kentucky could beat anyone...on a bad day, if they are 8# seed they could lose to the 9#. (Kentucky may pull it together to and finish higher than 8th, but right now they are really struggling and I could see them seeded anywhere from 5-8) On a side note how about the city of Cincinati having two top 10 teams? This could be another really good year for teams from Ohio in March, as Ohio State has wildly exceeded my expectations too. Nationally after rough starts Baylor&Texas A&M seem to be really turning things around and could be dangerous come tourney time. -Kentucky&West Virginia are free falling -Notre Dame seems to be catching fire too, their game against North Carolina should be interesting tonight and if they win, Notre Dame will be squarely back on the NCAA bubble after injuries seemed to derail their season. My Final Four right now is Villanova, Virginia, Xavier, Michigan State but I'm about 99% sure thats gonna be wrong

I'm a bit confused by MSU being below UC. I think UC's best win is @ UCLA. Their conference is horrible and they haven't even played Wichita State yet. MSU has only lost to Duke, OSU and UM. I think UC is the team that will be vulnerable to a #7 or #8 in round 2.
