This is destined to change, but I cant wait for March Madness lol. My Projections if the bracket was exactly the same as Lunardi's is today
Sweet 16
South
1) Virginia vs 5) Rhode Island 2) Cincinati vs 11) Washington
Elite 8 Virginia>Cincy
West
Sweet 16
1) Purdue vs 4) Arizona 3) Clemson vs Kansas
Elite 8
Zona> Clemson
Midwest
Sweet 16 1) Xavier vs West Virginia 3)North Carolina vs Arizona State
Elite 8
Xavier> North Carolina
East
Villanova vs Florida Michigan State vs Duke
I have both MSU and Villanova in the Final Four predictions posted earlier, but if they were both in the same bracket I'd pick MSU
Final Four
Virginia>Zona MSU> Xavier
National Title MSU>Virginia

Is there anyone who really thinks Cincinnati is better than Michigan State? Apparently MSU's non-conference schedule is bringing them down. Looking at the 2 I cant see how UC's can be perceived as being stronger. I guess the ultimate factor would be if the two teams were to play each other, who would be favored and who would you take? It sure wouldn't be Mick Cronin!

Based on the Xavier-Cincinati game I think Michigan State would win easily......but honestly I haven't seen Cincinati play very much this year. I do know that honestly they played UCLA pretty tough till about the 7 minute mark in the round of 32 last year, before it all fell apart....but honestly I'd take Michigan State in a heartbeat over UC. Some good games this weekend!
Arizona-Arizona State& Ohio State-Penn State tonight -Wichita State-Temple also-only because even when they aren't that good Temple still seems to play the top teams tough Friday 16) Rhode Island vs St. Bonaventure(I've wanted to catch a Rams game all season and see just how good they are)
Saturday
3) Xavier vs 4) Villanova
Sunday
7)Ohio State vs 21)Michigan
6) Cincinati vs Wichita State

Bama is at 7 with a bullet. I am liking it. Heading for Rupp and the wounded Wildcats.

This Cat team just doesn’t work. They’re all pretty much the same guy: athletic power forward who can’t shoot.

4) Xavier vs 3) Villanova I'll be in the stands for this one. I know I've talked several times about Xavier but Saturday just might be the biggest game in school history. With a win they'll take a huge step toward their first ever Big East regular season championship. Knowing where they were and where they are now, this is amazing. To compare, it would be like Southern Mississippi joining the SEC and winning the championship within 5 years. Xavier's first conference affiliation was the MCC where they played the likes of Evansville, Oral Roberts and Oklahoma City. I realize the Big East today isn't what it was in the 1980's but consider this, one of Xavier's most successful coaches, Pete Gillen, left Xavier to coach Providence of the Big East. You think Chris Mack is leaving Xavier to go to Providence. In the 1980's Xavier would have never competed with teams like St. Johns, Georgetown, Villanova, Providence or Seton Hall. Marquette drilled them annually. DePaul was a consistent top 10 team. Today, Xavier is beating them all but Villanova - Saturday's game is huge.

This Cat team just doesn’t work. They’re all pretty much the same guy: athletic power forward who can’t shoot. I think the model is changing. First of all, UK, Arizona, Kansas and Duke appear to be the only teams that consistently get the 'one and done' players. If you look at the top teams today, many of them are filled with veteran players who have been in their respective teams' systems and have a genuine trust and knowledge of what needs to be done. they aren't 5 star players but many are 3 and 4 star players who have played close to 100 games together. When you're constantly rebooting with freshmen who are just biding their time to go pro it takes a different level of buy in. You're always starting over. Calipari, Coach K and Sean Miller are great coaches but so are Jay Wright, Chris Mack and Tom Izzo. I'd much rather have the veteran players who are out there for each other than the one and dones who really haven't had the time to truly know what its like to be a team. I really hope this is a trend. I'd rather see the 'one and dones' permitted to go right to the NBA and allow college basketball fans to get to know their teams.

It's certainly not easy to win with the one-and-done strategy. I dare say, NO ONE hates this system more than Calipari. I think, if he could hold them for two years? They'd be damn near unbeatable. But, one year is just not enough. You're right, 5 physically mature mediocre players who know how to play with each other can generally beat a team of 5 freshmen superstars.
Today, however, the Wildcats rolled over the tide. Bama showed up at a bad time.... UK backs were against the wall.

As I said, UC is severely over rated - 2 losses last week and I think they'll lose 2 more times before the NCAA tournament. They'll get a 3 or 4 seed and lose in the round of 32. It's Mick Cronin.

Oklahoma is severly overrated as well. How a team thats been 2-8 in their last 10 is only a 6 seed is beyond me....Kansas is taking them to the woodshed right now...in a beating that should put them squarely on the bubble. They'll probably drop to a 7 seed
