Keep things interesting until College Football season comes around. Now that OSU has had there spring game I tend to focus on MLB where I have been a life long Reds fan. Ideally if they can keep things interesting until August then that will fill the void of sports during the summer. This year the Reds are off to a 3 - 14 start with absolutely no hope of turning things around. It is mid April and this season is already done. The Reds are nothing more than a AAA team playing in the majors because everytime they get a budding star they end up getting traded leaving the team with nothing but a bunch of prospects. The way the organization operates I don't see how they turn this thing around for many many years. At least I have the Blue Jackets things interesting.

I don't even know where to start but I'll give it a shot.
They fired an eventual HOF manager and replaced him with a pitching coach with ZERO games managed.
The COO is the owners son who has probably been handed every job he's ever had.
The GM is the minority owners' grandson and nephew and until Bob Castellini purchased the team, was in investment banking.
They want to make money. They think having Kid's Days, bringing your dog to the game, fireworks on Friday nights and bobblehead promotions will bring fans to the games. How about putting a major league product on the field? They try to capture lightning in a bottle with retreads (Scooter Genette) because every 10-15 players it works. Meantime they let players who came through their system in the prime of their careers go to other teams because they can't match the salaries being offered.
My opinion is if you can't compete with the big boys, get out of the business. Phil Castellini said by 2018 the Reds will be competitive - they're 3-14 and the worst team in baseball. They'll probably dump Votto to get more prospects and still have to pay the majority of his contract.
Get rid of the nepotism and get some people in place who know baseball talent, they know the industry. What they're trotting out there right now is a joke. Bryan Price should be where most of the team should be, playing in Dayton.

Never give up..... My Facebook memory yesterday was from an Astros game I went to 4 years ago. There were less than 1500 people in attendance. They were coming off the worst year in team history, losing more than 110 games. I think I posted about it on here too. There was NO NONE at the game. It was pathetic.
Three years later, they win their first WS.
It can change quickly. But, you do need the right people in charge and an owner that is, at least TRYING to win.

Houston certainly gives you some hope as well as KC but as Doc pointed out there are soooo many things wrong in Cincinnati that it is going to take some wholesale changes that absolutely needs to start at the top before this ship sails in the right direction.

And in Kansas City's case it was a perfect storm where their talent came together for a couple years but once the contracts were up, they couldn't hold on to them and now they're all playing for other teams. The Reds had that opportunity in 2012 but couldn't close a 2-0 lead over SF in the playoffs and basically handed the Giants a WS championship. Things went to hell in a handbasket after that.

The thing that makes me mad about Cleveland Indians fans......they have a world class stadium, world class front office. A manager whom will be in the Hall of Fame one day......and they still have trouble attracting people to thier games.....but the Browns sell out....o dont get it. The Indians have had one of the best front offices in baseball for a long time. Consider this, this season is the 25th season since they've moved into Jacobs Field, they've had 16 winning seasons, 3 AL Titles, 9 AL Central Titles and have been one of the more consistent small market teams.....and they still have trouble drawing

Cincinnati is exactly the opposite. Baseball is king but if they don't turn things around at some point that will change. When the Bengals made it to the playoffs on a couple of occasions I was able to get my son and I a ticket for about $40 each. If the Reds had the team like Cleveland they would be getting 30K plus per game.

It frustrates me about Cleveland Fans......I'm a Browns fan too, but you have a losing Franchise that hasn't been getting better in a long time......and you have a winning Franchise, that has a top 8 front office in all of Major League Baseball........why are you so hell bent on going to see the losers?
