Ohio State has lost 10 Big Ten conference games. Michigan has lost 40. Making this even more impressive is the fact that 5 of OSU's losses came in one season - 2011 - the year Luke Fickell was the interim coach. What a run...keep it going Urban.

I marvel at the greatness of Urban
.851 career winning rate is 7th highest in NCAA history ( Saban has the 55th best -.781 )
..That covers a lot of coaches over the past 114 years

What a great time to be an Ohio State Fan. Bama has fared pretty well over that span too.

What a great time to be an Ohio State Fan. Bama has fared pretty well over that span too. Not to steal the Ohio State thunder (they have actually done extremely well since '96), but what Alabama has done in their very real dynasty (not a chump mini dynasty like USC or Miami circa 2000s) is record breaking, especially on defense Several several threads ago, I had a study on the best defenses ever...what Saban has done with his defenses is legendary, especially in an era with high octane no-huddle offenses. Some of the Alabama defenses under Saban are hands down some of the BEST EVER....ALL TIME Sports media never highlights it, they are sick of Alabama

...and back to Ohio State...
They REALLY started their current run in 1996. Ohio State in 1996 would have played in a playoff, and definitely should have had a chance to play for the Championship.
Ohio State '98 should have played for one as well, and might have been able to beat Tennessee
2002 Buckeyes won the Championship and ended Miami's short run
2006 and 2007 Ohio State played for titles
2012 Ohio State was stupidly on probation and blew a chance to play for a title
2014 won the title
2016 played in the playoffs
Not a bad run! Would you say this is a dynasty? A quiet dynasty maybe

Would you say this is a dynasty? A quiet dynasty maybe This sums it up pretty well.
- 1996, Shawn Springs slips on a slant pass and the Bucks lose to UM after totally dominating the first half and only having 9 points to show for it. - 1998, a punt takes a bad hop and hits the OSU blocker, giving MSU great field postion, despite trailing 24-9. The Spartans, coached by some guy named Saban, score 19 unanswered points and knock off the #1 ranked Buckeyes in Columbus. I was there and the next day I ran the Columbus Marathon.
- 2012, Buckeye AD, Gene Smith basically won Alabama an NC when he decided to let the seniors play a bowl game the previous year instead self imposing a bowl ban in 2011. Bucks would have probably played ND for the title.
I know they were handled pretty easily in 2006 and 2007 but two plays had dramatic impacts on those games. Ted Gin Jr was knocked out of the game by his own team mate after returning the opening kickoff for a TD in 2006. A roughing the punter call in 2007 changed all the momentum in the game against LSU. The Bucks never threatened after that. I was at both games, rough nights indeed.
Still, a pretty great run which should continue in the upcoming years.
