What was I thinking? Going back to my old company?
I just did a quick check of my calendar. So far this year, we have had 26 weekends. Of that 26, I have missed at least one day (travelling for work) on 19. That's 73% of my weekends. Of the 52 days, I've been working/traveling on 26 of them. HALF!
And, most of the one-day weekend, like yesterday, were spent in a stupor, recovering from jet lag.
And the worst part is, I keep having the feeling that my businesses need MORE of my time! Maybe, we need more people?
Anyway, if I've been overly grumpy in the past year, this is my excuse.....
Going on "Vacation" with Mama Bevo on Wednesday. Although, I have to take a conference call, from Vegas, at 7 am on Thursday. Ugh.... After that, I'm going to try to "pull the plug".

Whew... I was worried that I made you grumpy, Bevo. I haven't had a job for 12 years. I highly recommend retirement.

Gonna try... But, I don't see how I can, completely. My team has two $25+M plus deals we're trying to close. Plus, if I don't at least check through emails a little, I'll have more than a 1000 to wade through when I get back. So, I don't know..... I'm gonna try.

Things move a little slower in higher ed, it takes us a year to replace a dean or provost. I move at the speed of the donors and in the summer they move pretty slowly. I often say I have 3 seasons at work; eating season (September to November), basketball season (November to March) and golf season (April to August) - it's really not a bad gig. Having said that, retirement is targeted for December 31, 2021, Mrs. Doc has already signed off on that date.

I wish I had a date to focus on. I guess, the earliest possible for me would be: June 2021 That's when I hit 62. But, more likely would be June 2024.
Damn... that's depressing... 6 more years. ugh...

Five years at the pace you are on could kill you. You need to think long and hard about the amount of money you need to be happy.
For what it’s worth, I have never looked back. Spending lots of time with my grandkid. Helping my son in law with some wood work. Averaging 18 miles a week on my new treadmill.
Every day is Saturday.

There is NO WAY I can keep up this pace another 5 years... I've been letting them know that 3 is the max. I'm hoping to move to Site ESHA manager, or in a training position before too very long. That's the only way I could make it..... unless, I just quit and take another local job for much less, that requires NO travel. That's an option.
2-3 more years at the job I'm in would make retirement pretty comfortable.
But, yea... I'm evaluating daily whether it's "worth it"?
