What an ugly and unmemorable week of football...
The only thing to note is how bad the PAC12 has looked....Arizona lost to Houston, and UCLA lost to Cincinnati last week, if anyone is keeping score between the American conference and the P5. South Florida took down Georgia Tech as well.
one feather in the cap for the PAC12...Arizona State took down Michigan State.

We didn't get a BUNCH of games, but... there were a few that stood out. The Clemson @ A&M game was HUGE. National implications. The Tigers were luckier than a three-dicked dog in a room full of bitches in heat. But, they WON. In the end, that's ALL that matters. They beat a good Aggie team, in their home stadium, in front on 100,000+ rabid Aggies fans. Clemson just damn near locked in another CFP appearance. Meanwhile, the hapless Kentucky Wildcats FINALLY beat the Florida Gators!!!! First time since 1986. Were you even born in 1986 Evil? My oldest son wasn't. That is GROUND BREAKING NEWS in the Bluegrass state. Stoops has done good things for this program since he arrived. He's recruited well. And, has players who look like they know what they're supposed to be doing. Now, for the first time in forever, we have a QB who can actually throw... with accuracy. And, one of the best RB's in the country. It's going to be an interesting year for Lexington. And... finally.... MAYBE, Herm Edwards will actually be a good college football coach?? I heard a LOT of people saying he had NO CHANCE. I'm one who has always his 'rah-rah' style is probably better suited to the college game. Arizona St has MANY natural advantages... All they need is a good coach to get the program on a winning track. Herm might just be "the guy". I hope so. I like the dude.

The ACC, outside of Clemson, is a dumpster fire right now.
GT gave up 300 return yards in ONE quarter. CPJ has to be on the hotseat now...600 yards of offense and blew a 10-point lead. 2-10 in last 12 road games.
GT in a real bind as a program - if they move on from CPJ they will be really bad for 3 years as the new coach gets players into his system
FSU struggled with SAmford. Still not sold on Taggart being the one to right the ship.
North Carolina was blown out by ECU (yes, the ECU that lost to NC A&T last week).
Duke just lost its QB.

To be fair Bevo....Herm Edwards has proven he can coach he was solid in the NFL with the Chiefs and Jets..... Not great but solid. I think most people who thought he would he would fail in college thought that because of the way he handled the press conference...which has nothing to do with how good of a coach you actually are. I think that's the knock on Coach O at LSU too....the media doesnt like the fact he's too Cajun so they want to push him,out the door. Lets give them both at least a couple years.

My prediction is Fedora is done at Carolina. The program has regressed since 2015. Can't sign the good in state talent, continues to lose to in state rivals, has said stupid stuff and the shoe scandal is enough. Next thought is, who replaces him? Hope we can hold on to Satterfield at App.

-I'm pretty disappointed in Purdue and Northwestern - you can't lose the games they did at home. And Purdue just made stupid, undisciplined mistakes to lose their game.
-This looks like a really down year for the ACC. UNC losing to East Carolina is horrible. Clemson can probably print he playoff tickets now.
-I thought South Carolina still had a way to go and that was certainly showcased on Saturday.
-Pitt looked alright in the first half but got destroyed in the second half. Their QB play is horrendous and they pissed away too many chances to score in the first half.
-I have my thoughts on Ohio State but I want to see the TCU game first. I'm heading to Dallas on Thursday and looking forward to a fine night Saturday night.
Great to have football back!

How bad can it be?
Clemson's safety dropped 2 INTs and tipped 2 other passes that were caught for TDs.
Tough night for that guy.

Yeah, that last TD was quite a fluke but so is a ball carrier fumbling a ball at the goal line through the end zone for a touch back, which A+M did on their previous possession. I don't know what to think about that game. I doubt A+M will continue to get the bounces (or the QB) play they got out of that game. I see more efforts like the one on the final 2 point conversion which was doomed at the snap.

"A&M is always a September champion...check back in November."
I guess I would add MISS and MSST that that list, lately anyway. The pollsters seem to hype them up and then they fall away.
My buddies that did make it to the game all said fans were very welcoming and offered food and drink without question. Very hospitable.

Nice that it was a competitive game. They tried to pump up the Georgia/South Carolina and Pitt/PSU games but I suspected those would be mismatches. I still question whether Muschamp is a top level head coach. At the same time, unlike some on the board I actually like Taggart at FSU - I think he'll have them back by year 3.

Not sure what to think about Clemson. There well publicized defense gave up over 500 yards to TAM. Hard to say how good BAMA tOSU UGA and Oklahoma as they have all looked very good but have not really been challenged. Both Clemson and BAMA seem to be settling on a QB but one bad game could change that and from my experiences, teams that have somewhat of a QB controversy tend to have QB playing not to make mistakes. As much as I liked Burrow, I think it is best that he transferred as long as Haskins does not get injured. The SEC OOC play thus far has certainly opened the door for another 2 team playoff but it will take a couple of 2 loss conference champs for that to happen.

Clemson's D will be fine. We all know what these guys bring to the table. I remain concerned about the 2ndary.
This DL was held all night long. Dragged down, pulled on, and even outright tackled a couple of times. They kept coming though. Mond was sacked 4 times and the D as a whole had 10 TFLs. I thought they got gassed in that 4th qtr but they were on the field a ton and it was really hot and humid... and still managed a 9.1% sack rate. After taking a 14-3 lead, Clemson was never in a defensive position where they would lose a lead on a single score.
If 25% of the blatant holds were called, this game isn't even close. I have re-watched most of the fisr half and I'm already at 8 blatant holds that were not called. And I'm only looking at the egregious ones.
Mond is definitely a baller, maybe the best QB Clemson will face all regular season. Mond racked up 430 passing yards and 3 TDs. Much of this came late in the game.
It's not a QB controversy, it's a rotation!

BIG has played 1 FCS team while SEC and ACC have played 10 and 12 respectively. 21-3 is not that impressive when 12 of the wins are over FCS teams. I don't know how you can deduce anything when the top rated teams are going against teams playing under different rules.
I do think the best win of the year has been Auburn over Washington. Clemson's win at A+M was gutsy. Notre Dame over Michigan was a solid win. Ohio State has 2 wins over P5 schools but both will probably be among the 20 worst P5 teams in the country.

Hooray for Herm Edwards. I want him to succeed. A year ago Florida State was ranked in the top 5 when they played Bama. How the mighty have fallen. Alabama vs Ole Miss this week. Bet the over.

It's nice and entertaining when the entire regular season is basically an all-inclusive single/double elimination tournament.
Survive and advance. Survive and advance.
