I see Notre Dame only losing 1-2 games this season...I think they beat FSU and USC. They are 4-0, with a win over Michigan that means the Stanford game and the VT game in Blacksburg are HUGE Stanford is a must win. If they lose that game in South Bend, then they must beat the Hokies. I'm assuming the game against the Hokies is a loss....Blacksburg is hard to win. So Stanford is a must win I see Notre Dame sitting at 11-1 when the playoffs are announced

Everyone is so quiet on the Irish...I think if they beat Stanford, they are a lock for the playoff. When you talk about schedules in college football, and how schedules can magically open a pathway to greater things, you're talking about Notre Dame's 2018 schedule. Are they a team of fate? Look at their remaining schedule....the teams that usually trip them up, like a Stanford or USC, or maybe an ACC team like FSU, well they all suck this year. vs. Stanford...can the Cardinal pull off another miracle on the road? @ Virginia Tech...Hokies just lost their QB for the year vs. Pitt...Panthers look very mediocre this year BYE vs. Navy...oddly in San Diego this year. Navy is always tricky, but ND usually wins this game, and they get a BYE to prepare at Northwestern...Wildcats lost to the Zips. The Akron Zips vs. FSU...if there was ever a year to catch the Noles, it's this one. And it's at home vs. Syracuse...not in the Carrier Dome, but in Bronx Stadium. Could be difficult at USC...the Trojans are definitely struggling this year, and got flat out manhandled by Texas. I think this is the year Notre Dame makes the playoffs. Now if they REALLY got lucky, maybe Alabama and Ohio State miss the playoffs somehow. Notre Dame wins a championship by beating Georgia, in another phenomenal upset

Notre Dame will lose a game and should all the conference champs have 0 or 1 loss, they have no business going to the playoff.

You might hate them more after this year.
I agree... if they beat Stanford, they’re IN the CFP.
Where; they will get wiped out.

Where; they will get wiped out. the only positive of that scenario would be they'd get the #4 seed and lose in epic proportions to Alabama! I even think St. Nick would get great joy in running up the score against them. After looking at their schedule I'm pissed I didn't root for Michigan to beat them - we'll always have the chance to eliminate the Wolverines on our own - I don't like depending on the likes of Navy, Syracuse and others beating the Irish.

Nothing sweeter than beating ND. Sadly, they would take the place of an entire conference.

The next test is Blacksburg, which is one of the hardest places to play. But the Hokies lost their QB. They are a wounded animal. Notre Dame can do it, but it will be a struggle.

The remainder of ND's schedule looks to be the easiest of all the contenders. Of all the playoff challengers they're the team I'd most like to play. I hope they lose a game or better yet, they go undefeated and get shut out of playoff.
Say the following happens --
Alabama or Georgia wins out with the other only losing in the SEC championship in a game similar to last years NC game. Ohio State wins out... Oklahoma wins out.... Clemson wins out.... Notre Dame wins out....
What 4 teams are in?

Bama has only been able to beat Texas and Notre Dame, combined...what..3 times in 16 tries Not remotely competitive in the big picture.

In 1892 Alabama lost a game to The Birmingham Athletic Club...5 to 4.
