Anyone watching the MNF game tonight?
Did you see rookie TB WR Godwin CATCH a TD pass, then let go of the ball like it was a hot potato??
What the hell was that?
If I didn't know better, I'd think... he'd been told NOT to catch a TD. Looked like he'd caught a ghost.

I saw it on a replay. Odd looking fumble.
I have seen many fumbles, each different, but most easily fall into one category of just another fumble. The fumble in question stands apart. Hmmmmm

That game was unwatchable. From the penalties to the announcers to the jackasses who have to act like idiots when they make a play - I had to bale on the game in the second quarter. Plus, the roughing penalties are a joke.
The players today are basically my kids’ age. What happened to the days of Roger Staubach, Walter Peyton and guys who played with class? I’d like to sit the morons playing today and make them watch some games from the 1970’s when there was a degree of pride and class. The product the NFL is trotting out there now is pathetic.

Pretty much agree with that, doc. It's the ever increasing American 'pop' culture dumbth factor which has permeated sports ( pro and amateur ) big time. 'Class' is not the preferred 'norm' anymore.

, and it all starts at the top. Ah... so, you blame Goodell for the classless acts of the players?
I agree... but, would also throw the coaches into the mix. They allow this kind of behavior. Papa Halas didn't.

Well, I must admit, Bevo, I was referring to the national dumbth factor and disregard for class in and out of sports and my "at the top" comment referred to our national leader......and it was a very unfair comment because the no class - dumbth trend started long before the past few years so I edited it out of my post. Agree with you ....many of the old time values would be good for sports today and some of them not.

Agree with you ....many of the old time values would be good for sports today and some of them not. Thank you. I knew who you were referring to, and I also thought it to be very unfair. I'm glad to hear that you recognize he is not the cause of EVERY ill in our world.
Have you had a chance to watch the movie: "85 Bears: Greatest NFL Team of all time"?? I think you'd like it. In it, Bears defensive players openly discuss 'bounties' on the opposing QB. They'd bid among each other, how much they would pay to "take out" the QB. New Orleans coach, Sean Payton, was suspended for an entire year because some of his players did the same thing. An entire year... with no coach. Yet, the "Greatest Team of All time" laughs and jokes about the same?
In one clip, Wilbur Marshall hits a Detroit QB and completely knocks him OUT! The guy is laying on his back, motionless, at mid-field. So, yea.... Some of the "old stuff" wasn't all that great for the players. But, it sure was fun to watch.
I think, the NFL should go ahead and put flags on the QB's. No more arguments about hits, or falls with their full weight. Just ban ALL hits on QB. Pull their flag? Play is over.

Yeah, there has always been a thuggery aspect to pro football. I enjoy reading about old time Baseball and same thing there, epitomized by Ty Cobb and his thuggish style of play.
