I'm amazed at the support Mike Trout gets for the MVP award. The Angels are never in the playoff chase - they currently are 22.5 games behind the Astros with a 78-81 record. How Mike Scossia keeps his job is a mystery but that's a subject for another thread. MVP indicates to me that the player had the greatest impact on the season for his team. It doesn't necessarily mean he has to be on a playoff team but I think the team should be better than 4th place, under .500 and 22.5 games out of first place. Now if you call the award, Best Player, then I can see Trout getting votes. But JD Martinez is close to leading all triple crown categories, Boston is 15 games ahead of the season they had last year when they won the division by 2 games and Martinez was the key addition for the Sox this year and yet, Trout is ranked above him. What am i missing? I get Mookie Betts being the front runner - he's the guy that makes the Sox go - but there's no doubt Martinez has been a more voluable player this year than Mike Trout - it's a no brainer.
In the NL give the award to Christian Yellich of Milwaukee - he's been a beast and carried the Brewers to the playoffs.
