That was NOT my logic Hen.
You’re addressing the wrong person.
I did watch that game. I didn’t come away thinking UCF was a “better team”... although they clearly did play better that day.

Too much of college football is still all about identifying and validating the best team. Competition is about determining a winner. Rules say Do X and the teams that best accomplish X place higher. People can favor rules they think provide the greatest challenge for placing and advancing but rules are never about guaranteeing that the best teams win. Being a better team is a competitive advantage only.

Populating a group for a four team playoff from among a group as large as we are talking about is about identifying and choosing the best teams with less than perfect information.

I wonder how UCF would have played if their two previous games were against Bama and UGA? "wonder" is the key. Maybe UCF would play with great confidence after winning those games. That's the crime of the no opportunity mythical system...everything is guessing and speculation. Playing is better...then no guessing or speculation needed. Let the scoreboards decide.

Advancing four teams according to agreed upon rules using limited information is rather simple.

Advancing four teams according to agreed upon rules using limited information is rather simple. While I agree, it isn’t the chosen method and you certainly can’t make a popular TV Show out of it.

This seems like common sense.
