To this point :

4) UCF
5) Notre Dame /Clemson tie
The Merit Rankings """"""""""""""""""""""""" defer to the CBS "Resume" rankings

Any way to get ND at #1 - they'll find it.

And I'll add, based on merit, I don't know how ND would be ahead of Ohio State. ND beat two solid teams at home while OSU beat two solid teams on the road including a win in probably the most difficult environment in the country to play in.

Clemson is one of just two teams in the country that rank in the top 10 in both S&P+ offense (#10) and defense (#4). While they trail Georgia and Ohio State in many national polls, the S&P+ still has Alabama and Clemson as #1 and #2, respectively.
ND is the other. Notre Dame looks like a legitimate playoff team. In their last three games (at Wake Forest, Stanford, at Virginia Tech) they tallied three wins by an average score of 46-22. Much like Clemson, they moved from a run-oriented QB (Wimbush) to their more talented passer (Book)
The teams that need a Notre Dame loss most are Penn State, Michigan, Georgia, and West Virginia. Of course, chaos always comes and clears up these issues.

The team getting the easy pass is Georgia...who have they played? We'll see how they do this weekend.
