Monday morning 10 years ago, Clemson fans woke up and Tommy Bowden was no longer the head coach.
An opening day beatdown from Bama, an inexplicable collapse against Maryland and a crushing loss to Wake Forest. A #2 recruiting class from 2008 and Bobby Bowden in his twilight at FSU. Nope, this team now sat at 3-3.
Fans knew what was coming....the bigger questions on the minds were who and what happens next.
Dabo Swinney happened next...a wide receiver coach with barely any experience was put in charge. In the back of my mind I wondered if Dabo was put there because he was expected to fail, leaving Clemson free to chase bigger names?
Listening to most, the odds on Dabo were long, and expected tenure was short.
That team fought for Dabo, and he for them.
They still are.
107 wins. 4 ACC Titles. 2016 National Championship.

Dabo has been outstanding... No question.
Hope it continues for you guys. Texas had a fantastic 10 year run with Mack Brown. Losing to Bama didn't make Dabo lose his freaking mind. So, maybe you can continue to be good.

If not for Alabama, Dabo would have a couple more rings
I do expect Clemson to get another ring...the only team that has been able to stop Clemson has been Alabama. I think they are the biggest legitimate threat this year.

I have been a closet Clemson Fan for a long time and I have to pull for Dabo.

Little known backstory:
Saban — who had already poached running backs coach Burton Burns from Clemson—called Swinney, whose reputation as a recruiter extended far beyond upstate South Carolina. Saban offered Swinney a job coaching receivers and the title of passing game coordinator.
Larry Williams, then writing for The (Charleston, S.C.) Post And Courier, reported that Alabama had offered Swinney a deal worth $230,000 a year with an incentive package that could push Swinney’s total compensation to $300,000. Swinney made $135,000 a year at Clemson at the time.
