Assuming Clemson drops a game, Alabama and Notre Dame win out, and Michigan beats tOSU: #1 Alabama vs. #4 Ohio State #2 Notre Dame vs. #3 Michigan ,,,but if the season ended today the Howell Invitational would be :
Bama vs OSU ND vs Clem
right ?

ZERO Undefeated P5 teams have been excluded from the CFP.
It's not likely to ever happen.
I'm talking FBS teams. So you're admitting that the Dr Pepper Invitational is NOT an FBS national champ[ionship ? Not exactly... I don't think the G5 teams, in general, are good enough to even be considered in the discussion. Certainly, they don't deserve to be given advantages.
I don't believe the current system excludes them. There is NO RULE that excludes them. They just have a near impossible task to earn consideration.
I Believe, the winner of the DPI is the Champion of FBS football. As determined by an entire season of competition, with a small-field tie-breaker among the very best (or, most accomplished) teams.
