It will pretty much come down to style points. Ohio State will have much better wins but they will also have a much worse loss compared to Oklahoma. One thing that I got from last year was that the committee continually made the statement that they wanted the best 4 teams. If tOSU just hammers NW, I think the committee will go that directly largely based on the last 2 games. If both teams win in a close game then I think it favors Oklahoma.

Win and the Sooners are in, it's that simple - unless for some reason they put Ohio State ahead of them in the poll this week; but I highly doubt that's going to happen.
As for Patterson's comments I'm sure a huge part of that is walking the conference line. He'd be an idiot to vote against Oklahoma, he'd be a fool to say he'd rather play Oklahoma since he has to play them every year and I'm sure he still has a burr up his ass about the 2014 playoff poll.
I tell you what, I'd love to see Oklahoma/Ohio State in an elimination game - that scoreboard would light up like a pinball machine!!

It's pretty rare, when having to decide between the last two teams, for them to actually have a common opponent. In this case, they do... and, OU was clearly BETTER against TCU that Ohio State was. Even OU's defense played better. I think that will carry more weight in the decision than "style points".
I suggest, all you Ohio State fans go out and buy some Longhorn caps and jump on the Hermann bandwagon. I think we might just give you the boost you need.

Hey, I'm buying a Texas hat tonight at Lids just before I go see Bohemian Rhapsody with Mrs. Doc - BTW, we saw The Green Book on Friday, great movie - Viggo Morgensen steals the show.
You can view these stats anyway to make your team look superior. TCU was ranked when they played OSU, they were in a spiral when they played Oklahoma. I was at AT&T Stadium for the game and TCU gave OSU fits with their big plays but over the course of the game they wore down on the lines. They were certainly fired up to be playing the Buckeyes.
OSU is 4-0 vs ranked teams and 2-0 vs top ten opponents, Oklahoma is 1-1 with no top 10 wins, which would change if they beat Texas on Saturday. Of course Ohio State has that one HUGE Matzo ball - a blowout loss to frickin' Purdue.

Which made Purdue bowl eligible; if tOSU didn't have a lot of luck (going for it on 4th down in the first half of an OT period and Maryland going for two in OT), Maryland would have also been bowl eligible.

Very true....but Maryland shot their wad against Ohio State and they couldn't even score a TD on Saturday. You'll go crazy trying to figure out the minds of 18-22 year old males. Like, wouldn't you think after losing 13 of 14 games and realizing your top opponent has been playing sporadic all season long, that guaranteeing a win might be akin to waking a sleeping bear?

In a real championship those two might actually meet in an elimination game. A 4 team beauty contest just doesn't serve the sport well.

Texas Tech 5-7 lost 51-46 to Oklahoma Oklahoma State 6-6 lost 48-47 on a two point conversion to Oklahoma
Kansas one of the worst teams in FBS Football for the past three years gave Oklahoma a game, because of Oklahoma's no-show offense for 3 and a half quarters.....can we quit acting like this is comparing Ohio State and Alabama's resume? I mean Oklahoma and Ohio State's resume's are both very similar...Oklahoma had the better loss......but the ironic thing about comparing this is we are talking about which team looked better in a game they didn't win. In a way that's kind of lunacy
I respect the hell out of Gary Patterson, but I also would expect that answer from him. He has to play Oklahoma every year....he's not gonna give the Sooners anything they can use for next year's game.....Ohio State also played TCU close to full strength, when they were ranked 15th OU...didn't.
-Ohio State does have a worse loss and in terms of consistency has been less consistent than Oklahoma, so if Oklahoma gets the nod I'll understand why.....but they also have a win Oklahoma doesn't over a top 5 team.

I think there is a definite possibility of OSU passing OU this week. If they feel the resumes are similar then the will go with the team that the think is one of the best 4. As it stands now we are down to 6 teams for 4 spots.
The only way Michigan or UCF gets any consideration is if UGA gets waxed and tOSU and OU go down. Even in that scenario they are still likely on the outside.
#1 Alabama 90% Chance they are in even if they lose #2 Clemson Win you are in. Lose then you will need to losses between UGA and the O's #3 Notre Dame 100% In #4 Georgia Win and your In. Lose then you better hope the O's go down.
Oklahoma and Ohio State Alabama Loses and Clemson wins then they are done Alabama Wins and Clemson loses win and they are in Alabama and Clemson win then time to put on your best lip stick and string bikini

I may have to get counseling after thinking about Urban and a string bikini.

A BAMA shirt might be a wise decision as well.

can we quit acting like this is comparing Ohio State and Alabama's resume? What? LOL... step away from the bar sir, you've had enough. Did you read the article I linked above? The WHOLE POINT of the article is: It's REALLY a CLOSE decision between OU and OSU. For the record, I have stated: NEITHER OU Nor OSU deserve to get a second chance. Bama, Clemson, and Notre Dame have earned their shot. I'd rather see UCF get the 4th spot than either of these two talent-laden, blundering teams. I respect the hell out of Gary Patterson, but I also would expect that answer from him. Gary Patterson is NOT a political animal. If he didn't believe what we was saying, he wouldn't say ANYTHING. There are ways to answer the questions he was asked without committing. Ohio State also played TCU close to full strength, when they were ranked 15th OU...didn't.
That's just a crap statement. TCU was still at full strength when they played OU. It was early.. way before all the injuries. TCU was still undefeated in conference play at the time. They had PLENTY of reason to be motivated.
People forget: OU has also had a TON of injuries this year. They lost two starting tailbacks for the season, and several starters on defense for large parts of the year.
And finally... OU might not have crushed WVU as Ohio State did Michigan... but, they did beat them.. ON THE ROAD, in a game with ALL the pressure on. It was not a 'bad win'.

My honest opinion is this...
Ohio State is probably the better team, and probably more talented, but I feel they have underperformed versus their schedule. Ohio State lost to Purdue, and had close games against Nebraska and Maryland. They haven't shown themselves to be a dominant team all season, only in the Michigan game. I don't think a Northwestern win helps them much.
Despite defensive woes, I think Oklahoma has answered the call when they needed to. Even in the loss to Texas, you got the feeling that if there were 5 more min left, OU would have pulled ahead and won that game. Kyler Murphy looks like a legitimate heisman candidate. OU has an oppurtunity to make a statement. A huge win over Texas will send them to the playoff. They will avenge their lone loss. They are prepped for it
Oklahoma has outperformed Ohio State versus their respective schedules. One game does not a season make!

Ohio State played TCU in the third week of the season....Oklahoma played them in week 7 when they had their backup QB starting and had lost 3 of their last 4.Bevo my friend check your facts
