In the NCAA championship divisions no goofy committees in conference rooms are deciding which worthy teams and regular season champions are not permitted to compete for a championship. You know what decides what teams are, indeed, allowed to compete... the true final four ??, and who is eliminated ??....the scoreboards at the quarter final sites.
This is sport, not exhibition, and the fair and correct way to determine a champion.
Playing is better than beauty contests
Also, cool to see that Johns Hopkins has played its way into the DIII final four. It's one of our great universities and medical schools and usually associated with lacrosse national titles

Do they still auction off home field to the highest bidder?
Until they stop that, I don’t really care to talk about the NCAA as the paragon of virtue.

Oh that's right..I forgot. You stated all 130 FBS teams are playoff teams and all 130 have an absolute equal chance at making the CFP champ game and all 130 playoff teams should be allowed to custom schedule their playoff opponents during the season. I'm trying real hard to grasp this view of the regular season playoff.

Every division from the FCS down has a selection committee. Half the teams in the FCS Playoffs are chosen by committee. All the teams in Division 2 Playoffs are selected by committee.

The league champions select themselves....the At large team come from a selection committee but there is a formula used.
But the difference here, Hero, is ZERO teams from the championship divisions ever get Voted directly into the semi-finals (CFP style) or directly into the champ game ( BCS style).
No matter how good they are perceived to be those teams must earn and play their way through a championship field to get to those positions....huge difference from a beauty contest direct appointment.
PLayoff games are a little more difficult to win than votes, don't you think ?

So… you're just quibbling about what ROUND They should be voted into?
Great... So far, Semi-FInals has been about right. Maybe, one day... FBS will expand to Quarter Finals... But, maybe not.

Yes...negotiating an inclusive playoff field is better ( and much harder) than negotiating a conference room discussion, based mostly on exclusion.
Adding quarter finals would certainly be a significant step. . Adding quarter finals AND first round games would yield a perfectly fair FBS championship for a division with 130 teams and 10 leagues ( and champions)
