So…. When Texas gets our asses kicked by Georgia, I guess I'm going to BE THERE!
It was pretty easy to convince MamaBevo to go to New Orleans for New Year's Eve! Oh.. she held out for a good 20 minutes.. you know, just to make sure I knew this was HER GIFT... for ME. But, I'd barely grunted before she booked a hotel room. Three Nights for free, courtesy of many nights on the road, at the Crowne Plaza, corner of Canal & Bourbon.
Delta plane tickets are free.
Now, I just gotta figure out how to get tickets without getting ripped off TOO bad. I've put out feelers with a few friends who are big-time donors. Let's see what that shows? Ticketmaster and StubHub prices are HIGH!!!! $200 each for ground level end zone. $600+ for 10 yard line Club level seats. $1000 & up for better than that.
Sheesh.. I have to think I can find something better.... or wait. There are a LOT of seats in the Superdome. Even with Georgia and Texas, I think prices will be coming DOWN. Any pointers on the best way to buy? It's been awhile... ( A LONG while) since I went to a major bowl game. Actually, I guess this would be the first? The Bluebonnet Bowl was not really a major.

I don't know about the impending slaughter. A guy named Bevo told me disappointed SEC teams don't try to win in PSEGs. I think Texas will try.

We lost our last game too.. and, in so doing, our primary goal for the season. Plus, we have a number of key players who will be looking for the NFL next year. They'll be more interested in just NOT getting hurt. I doubt we'll be all that fired up. I'd like to see a little payback for that 1983 season Cotton Bowl. Cost us a NC. Personally, I think Georgia is the third best team in the country.

Actually stayed at the Crowne Plaza and I thought it was pretty nice. Have fun. Just remember if you win it is not because Texas is the better team, it is becuase UGA is so deflated about not getting in the playoff that they decided not to show up.

I thought the Crowne looked nice, and it's not THAT close to the 'crazy' part of Bourbon street. She read a bunch of comments on line about the noise being so bad, the hotel handed out foam earplugs. Sounded far Fetched to me... But, whatever she wants. The IC is nice too.. just a block or two farther away from the fun. We panicked this morning, and bought two tickets: Right smack in the middle of the end zone, 25 rows up. They were $200 each... seats ONE ROW in front of us were selling for $400. Many others nearby were $400-600. Then, this afternoon... I got a call from a good friend who is a season ticket holder and might have two tickets to sell us, next to him and his wife. They're 20 yard line Club level.. Even at face value, they'll be about $100 more for us. So, now I gotta sell MamaBevo on the "social aspects" of sitting close to an old college friend. :-) And, maybe re-sell some end zone tickets. I SURE HOPE the Dawgs are deflated... at least, more that the Longhorns are. If I were them, I'd be insulted to have to play against the lowly Longhorns. Surely, they will overlook us. I would.

AJ? Did you guys hang out on Bourbon St on New Year's Eve? Or, sign up for some kind of party somewhere?
They have the big ABC New Year's Rockin Eve show at Jackson Square now... we're thinking to go there. But, not sure.
