These first two weeks are looking more like cupcake-fests....there's been some decent games, but I don't think we really have our first heavyweight match-up till Oregon and Michigan State play

I really expect MSU to have a good year.

Neither team looked the part of a heavyweight in game one. They say that the biggest improvement comes between games one and two. We'll see.

First? Louisville vs Auburn qualified as a "heavyweight" battle in my book... and, it lived up to the billing

Michigan State typically will not pour it on their in-state rivals (Michigan excluded). I think you'll see a far more aggressive and motivated team on Saturday night. I'm hoping they stay undefeated until late November when they come to Columbus. I was really hoping Penn State would be undefeated when they come to Columbus in October but now I'm just hoping they're at least .500! I didn't hear much about Oregon's game but I'll bet they'll be more focused this week, as well.

I can't believe MSU is favored. I would have given Oregon the edge.

Well, it's AT MSU, and the spread is 3.5
So, that's basically even...

I'm basing Oregon and Michigan State on the teams they bring back...who knows how good they actually are yet. Might not be a good matchup we look back upon after the year, but for now, I'd call them heavyweights

Vegas bettors disagree with you.
Auburn is 15-1 to win the BCS title.
Oregon is 25-1 MSU is 20 -1
Before losing this weekend, Louisville was also 25-1

The O-Line recruiting holes are pretty apparent right now (almost all of the offensive linemen recruited by Strong have left the program and wound up at non-power 5 and FCS schools).

I don't know that MSU being favored is that big of a stretch either lol.....they basically played Oregon even through 3 quarters last season and turned out to be a pretty good team. I know they didn't exactly light up Western Michigan, but Oregon allowed 42 points to EASTERN WASHINGTON!!!lol that's not necessarily great either

Tough to judge week 1 - people are high on GT and A&M, but we've seen this movie before.
GT beat up on Alcorn State - evaluating GT against inferior competition is that the scheme itself is generally unstoppable for those low level programs. GT runs to a big lead and yanks its starters, so you maybe lessen the talent differential, but the scheme is still unstoppable.
The backups continue to pour points on because the FCS level clubs have so much trouble with that scheme. The media then looks at the gaudy box score and gets all excited about GT.

I think Oklahoma at Tennessee this week is a pretty good potential 'heavyweight' game.
