If I was in Vegas this week, I might make a bet on Utah to win the PAC 12 and maybe get a shot at the CFP. Kyle ( I LOVE that name!) has been quietly building a solid team out there. Competition in the PAC12 is weak. This might be their breakout year.

At 100/1, i would put money on Iowa state as well.
16 returning starters.

Bevo, I'll co invest in your Utah winning the PAC wager. However don't waste your money on any longshot CFP wager. Disney will never ever permit something that sounds like Utah to compete in its big TV CF extravaganza invitational event.

Utah will prevent Utah from making the CFP as they always do by not playing all 4 quarters of a key game.

I think if Utah goes undefeated, they'll have a great chance at getting in the only way they wouldn't is if ALL P5 conference champs go undefeated, and thats likely not going to happen. I don't see the Big 10 champ going undefeated. I also think OU might drop a game

I think Utah would have to win every game by 40 and all the TV desired brand names would need two losses to be bypassed by the Utes.

Not that hard for them... they have the backing of a P5 conference now.
If they go undefeated, they’re in. 1-loss, and they need some luck.
Same formula for EVERY P5 school not named Bama or Clemson.

P5 conference, sure. Market brand name ? nope, not yet.The brand names would have to screw up to open the door for a Utah. TCU had the backing of a P5 league too, remember ? Didn't help much.

Utah doesn't have to be a name brand.. if they go undefeated, they're IN. 100%, ironclad guarantee..... unless, I guess, ALL FIVE P5 conference Champs are undefeated.
If they lose one, like TCU did... they'll need some help.
I presume, the PAC 12 wouldn't declare them an illegitimate Co-Champ.

wow... that's bold.
Clemson is a LOCK. They're THAT good, and the ACC is THAT bad.
The SEC Champ is a LOCK... be that Bama or Georgia.. The 2nd place team also has a pretty good chance.
Ohio State, I think, will get it done this year. When a 'new' coach has the kind of returning talent that they have, it seems to me that teams do well. I think, it's harder for other teams to prepare for them.
I like UTAH's chances.... I think it will come down to them vs OU or Texas. If BOTH the Pac 12 and Big 12 Champs go undefeated, we're going to have another CLUSTER FRUCK for the CFP selections.

I think I heard yesterday, that to bet on Clemson to win the ACC, you have to bet $100 to win $15.
That's SHORT odds!

In the 3 championship division of college football they don't have those "Cluster Fruck" problems. The winners of the 4 quarter final playoff games become the clear final four teams....no conference room meetings, no committees, no beauty contest voting, no ESPN lobbying, no mythical bull$hit of any kind.
I believe it's a better way.
