next question , Bevo : Should people running around with deadly semi-automatic weaponry be required to be 'well regulated militiamen' NO....
I should not have to join a militia to be able to arm myself for protection. The right of self-defense is a God-given, inherent right.. and, is recognized as such in our constitution.
"Semi-automatic"... lol... you make it sound so sinister. You, of all people, should know that practically ALL guns these days are semi-automatic.. and, they're ALL deadly.

Next question, Bevo
Should all the other industrialized countries on Earth that believe in GOD given rights permit and encourage its citizenry to own semi-automatic weaponry for self defense ?

We just saw a guy in Vegas arrested for planning to firebomb a synagogue or gay nightclub. We just saw a mass stabbing in Los Angeles. In Nice, 82 people were killed by a guy with a truck in 2016.
We can't ban our way to safety. We have to deal with the individual.

Yow !!?? I Bevo, I had to read your answer 3 times to make sure of what I was seeing. So, the governments of countries that have relatively little gun violence and virtually no mass shootings should promote mass marketing of huge magazine, semi-automic, assault style weaponry , rescind all regulations and bans of that weaponry and encourage its citizenship to own them ? If those governments mandated that its people pack fully automatic weaponry would that make their countries even greater ?

Switzerland doesn't have a gun violence problem, and they virtually ALL have semi-automatic weapons. You're barking down the WRONG TRAIL Hen. Our problem is bigger than guns. I can't help but marvel that, otherwise intelligent people, actually think making MORE LAWS will deter crazy young men who are intent on murder while committing suicide, to make a name for themselves.... It's borderline insane.. and, counter-productive.

All those NON mass shooting countries have their share of crazy and angry young men and have mental health issues. The difference is : a) No easy access to weaponry and ammo b) No glut of weaponry saturated throughout their society c) No NRA Sure, more laws won't stop our problem unless they include banishment of certain kinds of weaponry
You're not fooling everybody with the Switzerland stuff, Bevo. Please take a few minutes and read about all the highly vetted permits that are issued there and the new (2019) Swiss adherence to the EU strict acquisition standards. There are magazine limits and bullet type limits among other other restrictions. Swiss gun ownership culture is related to a well regulated militia in which citizen soldiers were permitted to keep their small arms in their homes.
There is a significantly different approach to weaponry in Switzerland and the US

All countries have mass shootings, contrary to what fake news wants you to believe. Don't believe it.
In 2015, the US ranked 66th in "mass shootings"
A number of OECD / European countries ranked higher than the US, including Russia, Norway, Finland and SWITZERLAND.

In 1996 in the UK they effectively banned handgun ownership, in 2019 they arrest & send individuals to prison in the UK for offensive an Tweets & Facebook posts.
22 yrs is all the time it took from when citizens of the UK went from losing their right to own guns to losing their free speech.

The lack of understanding of THE BILL OF RIGHTS is astonishing. This is so true. The 2nd Amendment does not apply to rifles, semi-automatic or bolt action, pistols, or revolvers or shotguns. The 2nd Amendment RESTRICTS THE GOVERNMENT. The technology of the firearm is completely irrelevant, the restrictions remain the same. This also applies to other RIGHTS...they are not GRANTED by government, they are inherent rights that the government may not prohibit.
