ESPN is airing (right now) a documentary about the history of college football. It brings up a BUNCH of forgotten memories.
Anyone remember the CFA lawsuit against the NCAA in 1984? That was the ruling that gave all teams the right to negotiate their own TV contracts. The NCAA had been severely limiting the number of games that could be televised. The courts declare the NCAA was a 'cartel'. BAHAHA!
That lawsuit, brought by Oklahoma and Georgia, changed EVERYTHING.
After winning, various teams signed away their TV rights to the conferences. The number of games on TV TRIPLED!
So far, this is a great show.
