I think the Massey composite probably is the closest thing that I would consider a legitimate ranking system. Using this rankings I would rank the following:
#1 tOSU wins over #15 Wiscy and #16 Cinti. All wins in a convincing fashion. Wiscy is the only team thus far to stay competitive in the second half but that changed quickly
#2 LSU wins over #7 Auburn and #14 Florida. Clearly they have the best wins but they have had a lot of close games. Will the committee give them a high quality win over Texas who is outside of the Massey top 25? Their defense is a pretty big concern giving up over 30 points per game vs. P5 opponents.
#3 PSU wins over #13 Michigan and #19 Iowa. Michigan win looks much much better now. Also the win over Pitt was only by 7 points but they are now 6 -3.
I think Bama and Clemson are razor thin for the fourth spot. Both teams best win is against #30 aTm. Bama was less than impressive in a win over UT but Clemson came down to the final play against UNC. Based on this I would give Bama the 4th spot.
#4 Bama
#5 Clemson
#6 Oregon
Of the 1 loss teams. Oregon has the best loss by far on a last second play on what was somewhat of a virtual road game against Auburn. They control there destiny and would get my vote for #6 at the moment.
Of the other unbeatens:
Baylor wins over #23 K St. but OT vs TT and barely slipping past WVU makes me believe that they still have more to prove to be considered.
Minnesota - they have literally no good wins to date. They seem to have found their mojo though and it will be interesting to see how their season plays out. This weekend against PSU will go a long way.
