and I don't think that's a good thing. Apparently the BIG presidents voted 12-2 not to have a season. I think they're going to regret this as they're underestimating the role football (and sports in general) plays on the over all psyche of the campus community. They're always trying to underscore the importance of sports, well they're about to see how wrong they are. I'm afraid it's going to be a boring fall!!

It's unofficially official that the Big 10 and PAC 12 are going to cancel their seasons...
It's also turning into the PAC 12/Big 10 vs. the SEC, Big XII, and ACC
I feel sorry for Buckeye fans on here...there are some rumors floating around though that Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State and Nebraska are trying to play in the Big XII for this season, and also the SEC is trying to recruit schools, so stay tuned

Why does the B1G feel it has so much leverage here?
I mean, they've been in every title game since the BCS started except in '20, '19, '18, '17, '16, '14, '13, '12, '11, '10, '09, '06, '05, '04, '02, '01, '00, & '99.

Could be the easiest year for the CFP Cte. - 4 spots, 4 conferences.

Except the PAC 12 is going to shut it down tomorrow, most likely. I don't thing the Big 12 has even announced a schedule. As I said, if it's in the hands of university presidents, it's over. I doubt I'm going to make it to the fifth stage of grief because I'm too angry to ever accept this decision...

The BEST you can hope for is a Spring season. The extreme lack of leadership in the Big 12 is appalling.

Nebraska seems committed to playing a season regardless if the BIG shuts down. So what is safer, these athletes being in a controlled environment constantly being tested playing football against other kids in the same situation. Or just cancelling the season and let the athletes just do what college kids which will be a lot of parties and congregating. If the presidents truly feel this way then DON'T LET THE STUDENTS BACK IN THE DORMS. If this pandemic is a concern for the athletes then maybe they should take more of a concern for there students.

Agree on this - I think playing a season would be more safe for the players than not having a season. Obviously there's the injury factor but you'd have that regardless.

This was predicted, but it is bad news for BYU and Boise State. BYU had several MWC opponents on the schedule, and Boise State is part of the conference.
If I'm Boise State, I say F-it, and try and find a way to play anyways.
They have numerous options: -Turn their game with BYU into a home & home -Contact FSU about possibly playing their second game of the series in Tallahassee (the return trip got cancelled early on) -Contact C-USA about filling in for Old Dominion -Contact the Amercian Conference as a possible 12th add-on for the season
In fact, I would be adamant enough that Boise State keep playing that I would consider leaving the MW permanently. They have had issues with the MW over money in the past. Boise State has slowly been evolving into another BYU, which is basically a P5-esque program. They need to play this season.

This really speaks to the passion of Nebraska fans and the administration there. Nobody (outside of Lincoln) really cares if Nebraska plays or not. They have been irrelevant for nearly 20 years. I think it would inspire the program if they played this season, and got to see a better variety of opponents then crappy Big 10 West schools.
Maybe look at scheduling some ACC and Big XII schools. They could probably do a home & home with BYU. Creative minds can make it work.
