Apparently, there is a lot of division on the committee, but it "appears" that there will either be no CFP this season, or it will happen after the entire season concludes, both the fall portion and the spring portion.

I doubt there will be spring football. In fact, it would not surprise me if there is no football at all this year. That being said, at this point, about 60% are acting like they will play in the fall and 40% in the spring. The committee has to look at the current "plans." My understanding is there is a small minority that want a fall CFP and a small minority that want a spring CFP. The there is a larger minority (but smaller than combined two small minorities) that want no CFP this year.

I say... have a 60% CFP! Maybe, Texas will have a chance to get in!

With some schedule changes, Army is down to MTSU, Tulane, and Navy. Air Force is allowed to play Army and Navy, but I would be surprised it they run a team for two games.
The remaining FBS teams are down to 13 games against FCS teams and a two of those games are the only game those FCS teams have on the schedule. With all but two of the FCS conferences having cancelled, I would expect the remainder of the FCS teams to drop off the schedule.

As of right now, I am showing the following prior to 9-12:
8-29: 1 game 9-3: 1 game (against an FCS team) 9-5: 6 games (2 against FCS teams) 9-7: 1 game 9-10: 1 game 9-11: 1 game (against an FCS team)

ACC, SEC, BIG 12 champions and one wild card play in a four team playoff to determine CFB champion.
PAC-12 and Big10 play in spring and compete for Rose Bowl champion.
This becomes permanent, where the Big10 and PAC12 play in the spring every year, as entertainment in the off season of major college football.
Major college football gets an undiluted playoff with an undisputed champion. Big 10 and PAC12 can get more exposure in spring and can compete for the Rose Bowl Championship which is more important to them than a national championship.
Literally everyone is happy, and we get college football for most of the year.

The latest I have heard is that the CFP is "thinking" about the following: a fall four-team playoff with the champions of the SEC, ACC, and Big 12 plus the highest rated champion from the Sun Belt, CUSA, and AAC. That would be followed by a spring four-team playoff with the Big Ten and Pac 10 champs, the highest rated champ from the MWC or MAC, and one wild card. Then a championship game between the fall and spring winners. The Sugar Bowl would host the Fall final and the Rose the Spring final. The Orange and Cotton would be the fall first round and the Peach and Fiesta, the spring first round.

Anything that doesn’t exclude the teams who forfeit the fall season is a pipe dream. Though an even bigger pipe dream is that the season gets played in its proposed entirety in the fall. Every team should cancel once we see spikes on campuses after classes start. If that is not enough, we will see cancellation after players test positive. In the end the PAC 12 and BIG 10 will have made the correct decision, it is just a matter of how soon the other conferences follow suit, and how much criticism they are willing to take to value profits over people’s safety.
