I find the analysis of LSU and FSU and their football downfalls very lopsided, especially compared with other programs
LSU literally just won the national title with one of the best teams ever. They had another title appearance in 2011. They've won 3 titles in the last 20 years.
While FSU completely sucks right now, they did beat #5 North Carolina. They did win a championship merely 7 years ago, and had a playoff appearance 6 years ago. They did beat Harbaugh just 4 years ago!
Why aren't sports media "journalists" dogging Penn State's James Franklin, who is winless this season? WINLESS...0-4! Is he on the hot seat? Maybe he should be!
What has Harbaugh at Michigan accomplished? Nothing. Not 1 Big 10 title, much less a playoff appearance
What has mighty USC done after their run ended in scandal. NOTHING. NADA. ZILCH. No playoff appearances, no titles
What about Florida and Georgia?
For all of Georgia's success, they have walked away with NOTHING. Since the Georgia revival in the early 2000s, they have won 3 SEC titles out of 8 appearances in Atlanta.
Florida has done nothing since their 2 titles last decade. Not 1 SEC championship. Saban showed up at Alabama, and the Gators went dormant.
Should I even bring up Tennessee, Nebraska, and Miami?
I'll gladly take the titles over failed expectations any day

Interesting that after I posted this, ESPN put out an in-depth article about FSU's football woes...very interesting stuff. It details the administrative issues at the top.
One thing I will add is that the ACC isn't quite the rollover conference it used to be...it's a much deeper conference now. FSU will have played 4 top 10 teams this year. Not just Clemson and Notre Dame, but Mack Brown at North Carolina, and a rising Miami team.
It's futile to compare FSU with it's main rivals, Florida and Miami, and even Clemson. It WILL be a rebuilding job. FSU needs to get good enough to beat the midlings first.
FSU will be back though...they have the history/tradition, and they are located in a recruiting hotbed. The big Florida programs usually don't stay down too long, as Florida and Miami are currently ranked in the top 10. Florida might be the only SEC team to challenge Alabama this year, and Miami is inching closer to being dominant again.
FSU hasn't gone through the down losing seasons that other programs have experienced. They've been highly successful for nearly 40 years now. This losing thing is new to the Noles, but they'll be back...

You must not be reading many papers. Harbaugh and Franklin are getting hammered in Big Ten country and Harbaugh is a national punchline - Finebaum talks more about him than the SEC, it seems.
I also think the LSU criticism is more about the possible scandal than the down year they're having. almost the entire starting 22 from last year left - not sure many programs could bounce back from that. They're still recruiting at a high level and I would expect them to rebound. Any talk of firing Coach O is ridiculous unless it's proven he did some bad shit to cover up this latest scandal.

When was the last time Penn State started 0-5? how many key players will start opting out? Brutal start to the season

As a mild PSU fan I never thought that Franklin was a great hire.

Imagine if back 20 -30 years ago, you told a football fan that winless Penn State would face winless Nebraska....

Huh. I thought Henry only offered lever action rifles....my ignorance. I asked about hunting because in the last couple of days my 50 acres yielded a 200-225 lb 8 point Buck and two nice does killed with one single .30.30 shot by friends. The round passed through one and got the other standing right next to it...true, amazing story.

We were in Tidewater VA the last few days and we saw a nice 6-point buck in the yard and then again in the marsh. He was pretty big, and the rack was symmetrical, so it would have scored nicely.
