One of my childhood heroes. I was there when he hit his 500th home run. I can’t imagine what he could have done in the chemical age. A sad day for me.
RIP Hammer

Brought a tear to my eye on hearing the news
"trying to sneak a fastball by Hank is like trying to sneak a sunrise by a rooster"
...teammate Joe Adcock

Hank had a .305 career batting average. If you take away his 755 home runs he still had over 3,000 hits. He is the career leader for RBI’s and I’m my opinion, home runs since Barry Bonds juiced. Finally, he made the All Star game 25 times. And you know what? 9 voters left him off their ballots when he was elected to the baseball HOF, what a disgrace - they should have been stripped of their voting rights.

Just look at who was on that ballot, the years on ballot and who got in eventually. www.baseball-reference.com/awards/hof_1982.shtmlBill Conklin from a Philly paper used to brag about never making any player unanimous on the a first ballot. Cranky old fat dude.

Cranky old fat dude. Well if Hank Aaron isn’t unanimous no one should be. And it took Harmon Killebrew and Juan Marichal more than two years to get in? Look how low Billy Williams was. Not sure some of the old timers on the list were hall-worthy.
