Wright St is our other division one basketball team in the Dayton area. There coach lives from me and my daughter is best friends with his daughter. Anyway he has been coaching Wright St and they have finished either first or second in the conference every year he has been there. They got to play their first conference tournament game at home against 7th seed Milwaukee. They were simply cruising the entire game. They passed the ball inside got an easy layup then repeated over and over. In the second half the were up by 24 with about 8 minutes to go then all hell broke loose. In the final 6 minutes Milwaukee caught fire and scored 42 points in that stretch to bring the game into overtime. Then at that point you knew it was a done deal. I felt horribly for there coach becuase he is a great guy and we are getting to know their family better. In his entire career playing\coaching he said this was the worst loss he has ever been part of.

That’s brutal! I worked at Wright State before my current job and knew Bob Grant, the AD. Back then he was the development director for athletics - o was the development director for engineering. Always like to see the Raiders do well but I guess they won’t be making the NCAA tournament this year.

When it comes to basketball my pecking order is 1 Ohio State (Alma Mater) 2 Dayton (Father graduated from there and life long fan) 3 West Virginia (Son Graduated) 4 Wright St (Dayton area and did go there freshman year) After that nothing really matters. My daughter is currently at UC so they may enter the mix
I have a hard time rooting for X because I think they are a big reason why Dayton has not gotten into the Big East. Then again they are returning the favor because I think Dayton lobby against X in the past. It may have been the Great Midwest league.

For me it's....
1. Ohio State - I'm an alum as well and been a fan since the early 70's.
2. Xavier - That's where I've worked the past 22 years and it's been a lot of fun going to Muskie games. One of the toughest games I've ever watched was the OSU/Xavier NCAA game back in 2007 - I wanted them both to win but inside I was pulling for the Bucks while wearing Xavier spirit wear and sitting with one of my donors. Just a horrible day even though the right team won!
3. Dayton/St. Louis - the Alma Maters of our kids, I had 2 go to Dayton and 1 to SLU. I can't favor one over the other although I grew up in Dayton and until I started working at X, they were a solid #2. What can I say, Xavier pays the bills and put our 3 kids through college debt free.
I'll pull for some of the other area teams like Wright State and Miami, not as much for UC - I couldn't stand Mick Cronin. Brannen is far more tolerable.
I also pull for the other Big East schools but not the B1G schools - they've all pissed me off at some point and time and I'd prefer to see them lose. I guess if there is one I don't mind it's Purdue - I think Matt Painter is a good guy and not as douchey as some of the others.

For me, it's "
1) Kentucky. I've bought my way into true fandom, with one fully paid graduate, and on 2-year attendee. 2) Texas- For obvious reasons. But, they are hard to cheer for. We suck 3) Louisville - Have to root for the home town team, except when they play Kentucky. 4) Gonzaga I always have liked them.. I like a fast paced team
