Thinking about great songs adopted by univeristy based on the song and the passion of the University. Now that I have a grad from WVU I would rank them as follows based on popularity.
1) Country Roads - John Denver - That song is almost as patriotic as the National Anthem in that state. It has been played at every home football game since 1971 2) Sweet Home Alabama - Pretty sure that song is similar in Bama Contry. Our local contributor may be able to chime in. 3) Rocky Top Tennessee - Simply hate that song is it was forced down my throats when the Tennessee Cheats wore the long cleats back in 95 in a game I attended in a torrential downpour. 4) Hang on Sloopy - Clearly a biased buckeye fan but I prefer the Alma Mater after a victory.
Just can't think of any others off hand but I am sure there are some good ones.

I don’t know how ANY song could be more associated with a school than “The Eyes of Texas”.

I don’t know how ANY song could be more associated with a school than “The Eyes of Texas”. Thought about that one but know that cancel culture has gotten involved its recognition will certain go up. My guess is that you had no clue that Hang On Sloopy was a mainstay at every Ohio State game.

The Fight Song, is "Texas Fight"... (very original, huh?) I'm actually not a big fan of it. OU and A&M have better fight songs, IMO. The song that TO ME, means "TEXAS" is this one... www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6DDHEieL1cThe band almost always marches to it. And, they play in games often... especially when the team needs a pick up. The fans all spell out T-E-X-A-S during the music. It still gives me tingles. :-) Funny, I always thought it as called "March of the Longhorns" but according to google, that's another song that I rarely, if ever heard. My fave is called "March Grandioso" Here's another view, with the proper formation and yelling. :-) www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRxItBTorc4
