So much talk - so many rumors. It is hard to sort out what is actually taking place. Of course, we know every conference and every team is looking for what is best for themselves. From what I have been able to piece together -- 1) Kansas is actively courting the Big Ten. 2) The Pac 12 is "thinking" about a package of teams that "could" include Kansas, Iowa State, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma State. 3) Notre Dame "might" be forced into full ACC membership (I think the lack of the ability of ever getting a first round bye in a 12 team playoff has more to do with this than the realignment rumors). 4) The ACC is working overtime to prevent any departures -- even one would open the floodgates. 5) The ACC is trying to figure out if they want to go to 15 or 16 and at who would be the 16th team (my take: Vanderbilt would be the obvious choice, WVU the second choice). 6) The Big 12 is toast. So, just to give my opinion on some of the points...
1) Kansas courting the Big 10
I just don't really see how this does much for the Big 10...maybe if they got Mizzou to come along with Kansas. Even still, that's not near the splash that the SEC just did. JMO, but I think the better move would be to see if something could be done about the ACC GOR
2) The PAC 12 considering a package of Kansas, Iowa State, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State
Just feels like the PAC 12 would be adding warm bodies that don't really add a whole lot...I don't know what the answer for the PAC 12 is, as they are lagging lately, but this just doesn't feel like the right move
3) Notre Dame into the ACC (forced)
Surely ND sees the writing on the wall as far as Independence. If they want the ACC to sustain itself, they need to join. They both need each other. Certainly the GOR might actually mean something if ND joined fulltime
4) The ACC working overtime to prevent departures
As above, Notre Dame could do a lot in this regard. If the ACC want to retain FSU and Clemson (or even NC and VA), they need Notre Dame to come in and....
5) ACC 16th team
....they need to make a splash for #16. I don't think UConn does anything. Maybe they should look at Kansas. Vandy leaving the SEC seems iffy, and West Virginia doesn't add anything. Even a combo of TCU and Okie State might be better. Notre Dame/TCU/Okie State/Kansas....might not be bad
6) If the Big XII survives anymore defections, they still could have a decent league. If they brought in BYU, Boise State, UCF, and Cincinnati, it might not be so bad.
Big XII East West Virginia UCF Cincinnati Iowa State TCU Baylor
Big XII West Texas Tech Kansas State Kansas BYU Boise State Oklahoma State
It's not what it was with UT and OU, but it's still massively stronger than any G5 conference. It would be on par with what the Big East offered in their last days

Much like gold:
Where God salted the earth with gold, He also assured you’d find rumor.
My bet is that the levy will hold.

All this makes my 74 year old head spin Well, to be honest, most of it breaks my 62 year old heart. I LOVED college football. I guess, I always will. But, it's never been the same to me since the breakup of the SWC. I'll never forgive Arkansas for that. The Big 12 has always felt like a placeholder until something better arrived. I guess, the time has come.

7) Texas A&M is steaming mad. It appears the other 13 SEC schools have been working on the Texas/OU additions for six months and purposely left A&M out of the discussions and kept it secret from them. I don't expect A&M would leave the SEC, but if they did, the Big Ten would move quickly to offer a landing spot (probably taking Kansas with them). That would probably male a spot in the SEC for Oklahoma State. I could live with that.

Crazier by the hour. There is now talk of 20 teams in both the SEC and Big Ten. The ACC may be toast as well. It appears there are a LOT of options on the table as of right now.

The advantages of lower division CF......no greed, no big TV contracts perpetrating mega conferences and conference hoping. The conferences are geographically based.....and also, real, inclusive championships.

Some good kids get a free ride to an education, which serves them well. \ But, ZERO interest on a global scale, to watch... because, it's NOT unique... or different from what they can see at their local schools.

The big10 should be camping on ND's doorstep. Contractually, the only conference ND can join right now is the ACC.

"By Contract", Texas and OU must stay in the Big 12 until 2025. But, there is an out... there's ALWAYS an out. Reportedly, it's around $80M. But, that's nothing compared to a share of the SEC TV deal.
