OU and Texas to the SEC??? Wow. I think it is a bad move for OU. They have a clear path to get to the SFP almost every year. They can kiss that one good bye. They clearly aren't elite in the way Clemson, tOSU and Bama are will get exposed. Based on recruiting history and CFP results I would expect them to be out of the top 2 within the SEC but within the top 5 of the SEC on a year to year basis. The move I think will help Texas in the long run but it is going to take some time.
Bevo, I think you grew up in Houston. I had to go to JSC for work and brought the wife down for a long weekend. We stayed in Kemah for 2 nights. I thought that was a great place. Plenty of good restaurants and night life as well. Then we went to Galveston Beach??? Not impressed at all. It looked like it was dated and beat up probably from the spring breakers. On Saturday night we could not even get into a restaurant and ended up eating Chick Fil-A for dinner. The next day we went to a restaurant called BLVD and that was clearly the highlight of the trip. I will likely be going down again in the not too distant future. Any other recommendations in Houston would be appreciated. At the moment Kemah seems like a good fit due the the proximity to JSC.

I’m on my way there now !
Will get back later. Kemah is a really nice area. I grew up about 20 miles from there. We were living there just after my first son was born. I was working in Texas City.
All the beaches there are not pretty. You have to go all the way down to Corpus to get clear water.

Back then you could go across the border pretty easily. Had some amazing authentic Mexican food and the silver was dirt cheap. Kemah seems like a good place to live if you are going to relocate to the Houston area. One thing that I was not ready for was the heat and humidity. We been down to Key West many times over the last year which was hot. In Houston it was almost unbearable.

With the heat index the temps were 110-115 Fri/Sat/Sun...all that water there, and in Houston. Looks like we are going to get close to that here in Greenville over the next few days. 116 predicted for Friday.

But, I would NOT recommend buying a house their. The topography of Galveston Bay is such that, if/when a substantial hurricane hits at the right angle, the storm surge going over Kemah could easily reach 20', or higher. It's a death trap that will, without question, be catastrophic someday. If you move to Houston, find a place with >25' elevation. As for other places to eat, there are MANY. ANY place that starts with "Pappa" is going to be good. They have Pappa's Seafood, Pappasitos, Pappadeaxu, and BBQ. All run by the same family and they are all terrific! I'm going tonight to a place called Perry's Steakhouse. It's high end, but really good. It's near Bay Brook Mall.... Not far from Kemah. There are a couple of other really good places right next to it. If you do go to Galveston, we love a place called Gaido's. It's fresh seafood, and a history lesson. They've been there 100 years. That's where I proposed to MamaBevo. :-) It is HOTTER than all HELL here. And, the worst part is... it lasts from May till October. It's oppressive. So bad, you start to wish for Tropical Storms to break the heat.

Had dinner tonight at Brennan’s, downtown.
Another outstanding place to eat. Cajun food
Maybe the best place in the downtown area.
