Quinn Ewers, who is listed as the #1 recruit in the 2022 class has reclassified and will join the Buckeyes for this season - he's skipping his senior year of HS. He joins a QB room of CJ Stroud, Jack Miller and Kyle McCord who was a 5 star in the most recent class. McCord came to OSU last winter, participated in Spring workouts and looked very good, as did Stroud. Stroud is said to be leading in the chase for the starting spot.
NIL paid a big role in Ewers decision. I can't see how he'll catch up to the others in 4 weeks of practice but his ability has been compared to Trevor Lawrence. I'm afraid Ohio State will probably lose 2 of these QB's to the portal, depending on how the depth chart shakes out. I hope we keep the right 2....

I was actually hoping he would hold off until next year. From what I saw it is a battle between McCord and Stroud. I predict Miller will be the first to go.

Hopefully, peace can be maintained with so many folks looking for playing time.

If I was in High School, I'd want to get to college ASAP.. to get my NIL money before the NCAA finds some way to block it.
The NCAA is the BIGGEST OBSTACLE to growth in college football. I can't wait until the top level teams are TOTALLY separated from them.

I'll miss those big name teams, however, in March Madness, the College World Series, WCWS and such.

I doubt that will work

sure it can work. They're already talking about it. It wouldn't even be ALL football. It will just be whatever the final organization of the big budget schools ends up being. Most likely, somewhere between 32 and 64 teams.

The future is coming. Get on board with it or get run over by it.

Also have two 5 star DE's in the 2021 class and one 5 star DE from the 2020 class. It's crazy....

The future is coming. Get on board with it or get run over by it. I can see the mega money, semi- pro programs having their own post seasons in other sports, like they do in football, but the remaining association members won't allow those teams to compete in NCAA championship events mostly based on potential different rules. For example, suppose the new professional organization allows unlimited scholarships and has designated starting salaries for athletes, allows 50 % more coaching staff sizes,, makes classroom attendance strictly optional, gives 6 years of playing eligibility ,with no academic eligibility standards at all, permits 30 basketball scholarships, 40 Baseball scholarships etc. etc. ?? In other words , other than football , the pro conference will have to abide by NCAA rules to compete for NCAA championships and will those University presidents allow entirely different rules for scholly football student-athletes than all other scholly student-athletes at their schools ? I think the pro breakaway schools will have to be all in or all out. We can only speculate.

I think the pro breakaway schools will have to be all in or all out. We can only speculate. I think the big schools will continue to follow NCAA guidelines for the smaller programs, and even for basketball. Except for bloating it beyond comprehension, the NCAA has done an OK job with basketball tournament. They're just out to lunch on football. The recruiting rules are IDIOTIC. They were woefully unprepared for this NIL court ruling, even though it's been obvious for a while that it was coming. They have NO rules to deal with it. It's Wild West right now. I heard yesterday: When the Bama QB announced his $1M deal for NIL, Saban was prohibited by NCAA rule from congratulating him on Twitter. Yea, that makes sense. The NCAA lost control of big-time college football 100+ years ago and they've never gotten it back. It's way past time to just cut the cord, officially.
