Urban Meyer - I talked with my brother and sister-in-law (Urban's sister) yesterday. She's very pissed at Urban as is the entire family. I didn't say this to her yesterday but I would highly doubt this is the first time something like this has happened - you just don't, all the sudden have young girls grind on your crotch at the age of 56. My guess is Urb and his wife have an understanding as long as it doesn't go public, which it did over the weekend, pretty humiliating for her for sure. He's typically well insulated with insiders so there had to be a security breach somewhere. I don't see how he remains the Jags coach. He's lost credibility, the team is probably laughing at him and he has some work to do to regain trust at home. He's retired twice but this may be out of his control. As long as it remains in the headlines, the end is closer and closer.
AL Wildcard - Loved watching the Red Sox eliminate the Yankees. I think the fact that Stanton hit a ball off the top of the Green Monster in the first inning and only got a single was a bad omen - he thought he had an HR and postured down to first base. When it didn't go out he had to settle for a single - huge mistake. And you can't make the second out at home when you could have runners at second and third with one out like the Yankees did in the 6th. It took a perfect defensive play by the Red Sox to get Judge at home but the throw easily beat him and he was clearly out. The game was over at that point. The Red Sox have always been my AL team - I also like the Twins because our daughter lives in Minneapolis - hopefully they can continue to win.
B1G football - there are 5 B1G teams in the top 11 at this point. The east is loaded with OSU, PSU and the Michigan teams. Iowa looks very solid in the west. The east teams are going to start playing each other plus PSU takes on Iowa this weekend so they're going to accumulate some losses, for sure. I think best case for Ohio State is they win out to the B1G Championship game and Iowa remains undefeated. The winner of the B1G game would have to be in the playoff. The Bucks get PSU and MSU at home - they travel to Michigan at the end of the year. The next 7 weeks should be quite entertaining. The OSU defense is showing signs of improvement. They have gone the way of the youth and while they'll make mistakes they're also showing far more aggression than some of the guys playing earlier. They just can't afford to lose any LB's - in fact, they need a couple of the freshman LB's to get in a position to contribute.
NFL - The Bengals are actually 3-1 and play the Packers on Sunday. A win there would be epic and a tremendous confidence booster. Joe Burrow is going to be a star - provided he doesn't get his knee blown out again. He just has it. He is the face, heart and soul of the team. Hard to believe this is a guy who couldn't get on the field at Ohio State. Good for him that he made his own route and now he's headed to NFL stardom. The Bengals need to avoid the injury bug - I think Mixon is questionable this week with an ankle. That would be a big loss. But the defense appears to be improved - Vonn Bell has been a great addition in terms of aggressiveness and leadership. And Logan Wilson has been an anchor at linebacker, a great draft pick from last year.
