not many gimme games in the Big XII...losses to Texas, Oklahoma, West Virginia and Kansas State with Oklahoma State, Baylor, and Iowa State on the horizon

If true, stupid move by TCU. They were not, in ANY WAY, relevant in football for decades before Patterson arrived. They won't find anyone better.
