My sister's husband (I refuse to call him my brother-in-law) has been on disability for at least 20 years due to alcoholism. He gets a monthly check and for the longest time he'd spend it all on, you guessed it, liqour. A couple years ago he wound up in the hospital and they told him if he didn't stop drinking he'd be dead soon. He's still around so I guess he listened to the warning but his liver has to be more pickled than all the cucumbers in the world.

Alcoholism is an addiction. However, it is commonly regarded, even by physicians, to be a disease -- in which case the alcoholic is faultless. The next logical step is that chronic alcoholism is a disabling disease, for which the innocent victim is entitled to special considerations.

All you need to know is that Alchoholism is legally considered a disability in California. There is a procedure that must be followed in accomodating said disability--for example puttting in ramps and bathroom faciities for wheelchairs. USC is said to not have followed this procedure. This is all about the termintion for" cause" clause in the coachs contract and the $12M owed if there is no cause. Look for Sarkesian to recieve something less than the $12M but more than what was offered in an out of court settlement.

Oh good grief.... Are you telling me, If I just drink a LITTLE more, I can quit work and draw a disability check? Hmnn... I'm close enough to being able to retire that this might actually work for me. :-)
