The reason the Jayhawks (with a bare minimum talented roster) dumped mighty Texas and scared the hell out of Oklahoma........Lance Liepold
This guy won 6 national championships in his 8 years at DIII Wisconsin-Whitewater, taking down the Mt Union dynasty in most of them.....and 6 NCs in 8 seasons without the help of a single vote, opinion or committee...in other "REAL" national titles.
Liepold is a true 'GREAT' head football coach. Now, the recruiting part is going to be tough at Kansas.

Does he have any orange shirts? I think, a big part of the reason was: Texas players have QUIT

When players quit you have to clear the coaching room. I don't follow Texas close enough to know much about them but I really thought it was pretty shitty that they fired Herman last year. I actually thought any school that fired a coach last year was being a little harsh given all the shit they had to put up with due to COVID. Now if a team totally quit on the coach I get it but it didn't seem Texas had quit on Herman - maybe I'm wrong.
I'll say this - if I'm one of these big schools like USC, LSU or even Texas there is NO WAY I'd go after James Franklin. He checks boxes, is a solid recruiter but he is one of the worst game day coaches out there - he'll make several calls a game that will devastate the teams chances to win. On Saturday he ran a fake FG pass to the field goal kicker on the 2 yard line. If you're going to go for it at least use players who are familiar with carrying the ball - hell, run a wildcat to Jahan Dotson! His stupid calls don't matter against shitty team but top 10 teams - who he's 2-10 against at Penn State - will make them pay.

Condolences, Bevo....painful to watch. My under the radar suggestion if Texas decides on a change..................K C Keeler (D1 national champion HC at Sam Houston State)

Totally agree about Franklin. ...excellent recruiter but very poor at halftime adjustments.

I really thought it was pretty shitty that they fired Herman last year. Here's what I said back on Jan 2, the day the move was announced: Texas fires Tom Herman
Jan 2, 2021 at 1:18pm via mobile QuoteEditlikePost OptionsPost by Bevo on Jan 2, 2021 at 1:18pm This is a ridiculous waste of money. I’m hearing, $24M in buyouts. Longhorn fans are furious! We wanted Herman gone after the ISU loss. But, the AD came out after the season, AFTER signing day, and said the University was committed to Herman. Then, we won yet another bowl game (Herman is undefeated in bowls) and looked good doing it. We got a glimpse of next year’s offense: two great RB’s and a dynamic young QB. People were already starting to get fired up again. 2020 was FUBAR, and we had two brand new coordinators. Waiting one more year seemed like the right thing to do... especially, given the huge expense. Maybe, if we could get Urban, or another PROVEN winner. But, not for another coordinator promotion. Very strange move.
