No problem with Alabama's ranking at 2#.........BUT IF THEY lose to Georgia in the SEC title game they have absolutely no business in the CFP....Period.
Alabama should absolutely be in the playoff if they win the SEC, along with Georgia and no one is debating that.....however debating putting them into the playoff if they lose, even though they already have a loss to a Texas A&M team that started their backup quarterback is melarchy and completely unfair.
The year the Patriots were 16-0 and played the 10-6 New York Giants in the Super Bowl....I have a feeling the Patriots would have beaten the Giants 7 times out of 10 times on a neutral field.........in the game that counted though the Giants won and were declared NFL champions
The SEC Title game is a playoff game....if the CFP wants to be considered a legitimate playoff you cannot allow a team that loses a playoff game to advance to the Final Four....period. The Patriots were clearly better than the Giants that season........they didn't get a do-over
If Bama loses they're out

Since this event is not a legitimate playoff I kinda suspect that ESPN will try to lobby Alabama into a 4 team Invitational event even if losing the SEC champ game to UGA....unless it's a blowout.

Worse would be if Georgia loses to Alabama. No way they go from #1 to #5. In fact, Bama would go to #1 and Georgia would be 2 or 3 because they won’t want a repeat in the semis. But there’s nothing contrived about it🙄.

Until then, if Alabama loses to Georgia, then Alabama has only lost to teams that beat Alabama. They deserve to be in. Not sure how you argue against that.

All these teams being discussed deserve a shot. The SEC champ, like every other conference champ, deserves a shot. Either Bama or UGA would make excellent 'at large ' selections if only winning their divisions. 10 champs + 6 'at large' teams will yield a true national champion.

The Patriots were clearly better than the Giants that season........they didn't get a do-over If Bama loses they're out I would not have a big issue with Alabama being ranked at number 2 for the time being if it were not for the fact that the SEC gets the benefit of the doubt every time since the start of this ranking system. Comparing the rankings based on the CFI for tOSU and Alabama #2 Bama wins versus #12 and #25 loss versus #16 #4 Ohio State no wins version top 25 loss versus #3 Using the massey ratings which averages out about 70 pools #3 Bama wins versus #10 loss versus #16 #2 Ohio State wins versus #19 and #24 loss versus #13 The CFI paints a very different picture when looking at Ohio State and Alabama. Keep in mind that Ohio State closest win was by 9 points. Bama had 2 narrow escapes by less than a TD versus teams that don't have winning records. Why is Mississippi St even ranked? Afterall they lost to Alabama by 40.

If they were both SEC schools they would have played again for the Championship.

If they were both SEC schools they would have played again for the Championship. Maybe. If the B1G had been DOMINATING the CFP competition the the way the SEC has.

If they were both SEC schools they would have played again for the Championship. Isn’t that one of the years Ohio State got dumpstered by an SEC team? Seems like the got it ‘right’. As long as we are electing teams to a playoff, they are going to try to get it ‘right’. Getting it ‘right’ means the games were close or the winner was obvious. How do you do that? Select SEC teams. It’s a no brainer. Just look at past history. If we want a real playoff where the SEC doesn’t have an inherent advantage because of opinion, you have to expand it and invite all of the conferences. Even the crappy ones.

Seriously aufan I please get your chicken sh*t AD to play a home and home so we can show you all about getting "dumpstered" in the shoe
