SPOILER ALERT!!!
Boo!
Clearly, I don't fully understand the strategy of high level, knock-out round curling. The US team intentionally passed on game-tying 1 point throws in the last 4 rounds, preferring to hold on to the "hammer" (the position of throwing last). They even intentionally gave the GB team a point in the 9th, preferring to go down by TWO points in the last rather than give up the hammer. I don't get it?
Even in the last end, they had a 100% chance to score 2 points to tie the match. But, they instead chose to attempt a VERY difficult, low % shot that MIGHT have scored 3 and won the match. I've watched enough to know that the Hammer position is important. But, I have seen many teams actually steal points when they don't have the hammer. It takes a mistake of some sort from the other team. I guess, they assume the Brits would not make such a mistake...but, our team did. So, why not?
We had one clear weak link in our team last night. He hasn't been strong all week. He started good last night, but choked several times mid-game and at the end.
Great match from Great Britain. I'll be rooting for them to win the Gold.

While I love curling, glad I didn't watch last night. I get frustrated at times when they try so hard to be strategic they run out of ends and lose...smh
