I had heard rumblings that the Big Ten was planning on adding; but these two were totally unexpected.

I think the Big 10 is hoping to lure Notre Dame in with USC and also adding Stanford...and ND might actually cave and do it, seeing the writing on the wall

More challenging, but not positive if Clemson goes to the B1E. Imagine this schedule:
Wofford Michigan State Rutgers UCLA Minnesota Purdue Illinois Northwestern Iowa Penn State Costal Carolina U of SC

That is probably just as tough as the ACC schedule if not tougher and in years when they get OSU it will definitely be tougher, but it isn't interesting. I have no history / feelings towards those teams. It is NFL-bland.

Conversely, imagine UNC/FSU/Clemson go to the SEC and U of SC is their assigned annual rival:
Wofford* NC State* (non-conference game) Kentucky FSU Missouri UNC Texas Vanderbilt U of SC Texas A&M Georgia Coastal Carolina*

I have no history / feelings towards those teams. It is NFL-bland. I pretty much feel the same way regarding the conference expansions. Once you get beyond 16 teams you almost have to divide the conferences into 2 separate sub conferences. A conference of 20 teams simply makes no sense from a football standpoint.

A 'revenue' standpoint is all that matters in all this poaching. What's football standpoint ?

A 'revenue' standpoint is all that matters in all this poaching. What's football standpoint ? No doubt it is a money grab and a prestige grab. As far as conference championship goes I still like divisions however it does not make sense if you don't play everyone on your side once. Without divisions you could go 3 permanents and 6 rotating but that still could result in 3 undefeated teams (if the stars aligned) I think the only way it makes sense is to have 4 pods of 4. 2 pods make up a division. Pods rotate every year. 3 games interpod 4 games with the pod in your division that year 1 game vs each of the other pods. Worst case scnario is playing a team with a maximum of a 2 year gap. I would divide them Pod 1 tOSU PSU MD Rutgers Pod 2 ttun ttunSt IU, Purdue Pod 3 Ill Wiscy Min NW Pod 4 USC UCLA Neb Iowa Allow for one permanent crossover tOSU ttun ttun st PSU and any other rivalries that make sense SEC currently is horrible. 6 games in divsion, 1 permanent out of division, 1 rotating. Therefore UGA and Bama will play each other once every 6 years during the season.

It will be the three teams in your pod plus two each out of the other three pods for the nine game schedule.
MD, PSU, Indiana, Purdue Michigan, MSU, tOSU, Rutgers Wisc, Minn, Iowa, Neb NW, ILL, USC, UCLA
