Sorry I haven’t been as active as usual. Once the season is in gear I’ll be back to my usual postings.
Things are going well after one month of retirement. I watch our grandson on Mondays, host bar trivia on Tuesday nights, bartend at our local golf course a couple days and ride my bike over 200 miles a week. We also just learned grandchild #2 is on the way! Our daughter also got engaged recently so we’re at the early stages of planning her wedding - fun times for sure!!

That sounds awesome! Our CEO just announced a major re-structuring. ALL five business heads were let go. We combined 5 into 3, all with new Heads. Now, the 3 all have to revise the structure below them over the next 3-6 months. Nothing like getting it done quickly! My bosses job basically was eliminated, as was the position at my level. I await now to here from "on high" what my new position will be? I could be promoted. The new Head of my business was the guy who hired me back to the company 5 years ago. I worked for him for 2 years and was so successful, he got promoted. We get along well. I could be moved sideways.... which, really means, down one notch. Or I could be offered a package to retire early. I really don't care much which. I plan to make my case for the promotion. That would mean a minimum of 2 more years working, but with a substantial bump in salary and benefits. If I don't get it, I will retire as planned next summer. I'd just as soon get a package and do it now. I guess we'll see. Travel has been picking up again. I'm not sure I'm picking up with it.

I have a great friend who opened a brewery a couple years ago. They’re doing great but he still has his day job working for P&G - he’s holding out for the package and thinks he may get it within the next year. I could have taken a package shortly after COVID hit - I would have gotten 2 weeks pay for every year of service, almost a full year, but it was a year too soon.
On the bright side, Bevo, it’s good to have options!

So, basically, you haven't retired! Well, I did take a couple side jobs just to keep busy but the commutes are less than 10 minutes and I have Fridays off. It is weird working for tips!
