Just saw BAMA passed Ohio State in rivals recruiting ranking. It led me to look into how many recruits they have ranked in each state. in the top 250, 22 came from the state of Alabama and 6 came from the state of Ohio. Alabama had 8 in the top 65.
Typically California (due to size only) Texas and Florida are the top 3.
Then you have states like Georgia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania are hovering the next tier. Louisiana and Alabama probably hovering close to this tier.
These ranking comparison between Ohio and Alabama seems way out of whack.

It does seem a little nuts but teams like OSU and BAMA are not bound to states. I think the numbers in different years might be totally different. Probably dumb luck and some local bias in the numbers and the location of the ratings guys. All things considered, the future looks bright.

With Ohio State it seems like the get about 30% from Ohio 30% from Florida and then the remaining can vary wildly from year to year. It seemed like we used to get alot from California but not so much anymore. Tressel was a completely different beast. He wanted a wall built around Ohio for recruiting. Urban was much more open to outside the state

Both Alabama and Ohio State are , basically, national all star teams. 2022 Alabama features players from 25 states on its roster. Ohio State features players from 27 states. Bama has 47 kids from Alabama. OSU has 52 kids from Ohio. OSU has zero Alabama kids on its roster. Bama has two Ohio kids on its roster.
The combined OSU and Bama rosters feature 23 Florida boys, 20 Texas boys and 17 Georgia boys....only 10 combined from California.
