Great trip with wife and daughter. Unfortunately my son could not make it. Anyway some quick highlights
Toured West Minster Abbey, Parliament, London Towers, Stonehenge, Bath and the Roman Baths.
Went to Buckingham Palace.
Walked Abbey Road barefoot just like Paul McCartney.
Spent Days in Paddington, Notting Hill, Covent Gardens and Camden.
We also did the hop on and off bus and that was great way to get familiar with the city.
The tube is there subway system and could get you almost anywhere for next to nothing.
Hotel was in Waterloo so we did hang out a bit on the Thames close to the hotel
First 4 days was a lot of touring and you simply just can't explain it other than their is so much history behind all those sites that you just have to take it in and appreciate. I probably liked the London Tower tour the best just because it takes you through the eras and history to how the tower got to be where it is today.
The amount of restaurants was astounding. The best meal we had was actually an Indian Restaurant in Covent Gardens called Dishoom. It was smaller plate items and really got to taste a bit of everything. Being in London we did get the Fish and Chips a few times but if I were to do it again I would have skipped the those meals. Once thing we learned is that pubs were for drinking and restaurants were for eating. Combining both activities in the same spot would sometimes leave you disappointed.
I did push hard to go see pretty women but believe or not I could not convince my wife and daughter to see that or any other play. They just wanted to see the city.
For someone who as never seen London, I thought it was amazing. People were very friendly and the city was very clean and felt extremely safe everywhere we went. I had to stick around for work to and had to go to Salisbury for 3 days. Driving on the wrong side of the road with a stick is quite a daunting tasked but made through without any major blemishes on the car. I did find myself driving close to the curb and nailed the front tire on many occasion but all is well.
