Ok good points. Think of this......Nolan's great stuff combined with....oh, let's say the control and command of a Satchel Paige or Gregg Maddox. We'd be talking G.O.A.T
...and if Nolan didn't average almost 5 walks per 9 innings some of those no-hitters might have been 'perfect games'.

Ok good points. Think of this......Nolan's great stuff combined with....oh, let's say the control and command of a Satchel Paige or Gregg Maddox. We'd be talking G.O.A.T LOL no one could throw as hard as Nolan with the control of Maddux. If they could, yes, that would the GOAT of GOATS. Baseball has been played for so long, with SO MANY great players, I don't know that there can truly be a G.O.A.T. If there was, it was Babe. I think Nolan rivals Babe, just for the sheer legendary aspect of his career. Yea.. he wasn't great when he first hit the big leagues, way too early. Moving to the Angels actually helped him. It might have been the ONLY team that would give him a starting spot in their rotation. He needed that. It's also the first place where he had a pitching coach who tried to teach him better CONTROL. It helped him become a better pitcher. But, once he put it all together... when he developed a pure 12 to 6 curve ball, he became a pitcher to be feared. On nights when he could throw the curve for strikes? He became unhittable. I think, you'd just learn to love him too for the MAN he was... among boys. He idolized Sandy Koufax. He learned from the BEST pitchers in the game that, sometimes you need to throw inside. Or, as Nolan put it, "You just have to take control of the situation". I'll never deny the warts. He had them. But, they didn't cover his entire career. He got BETTER as he got older. And, for sure... I will always say, there was NEVER a pitcher I enjoyed going to watch more than Nolan. Every game, a potential no-hitter. Every game, a chance for 20 K's. It was FUN to watch.
