The impact on where the committee puts tOSU BAMA and Tenn will be huge. Since none of them will be playing this weekend
#5 Could get in with either USC or TCU laying an egg
#6 Needs both to lay an egg.
#7 Will be off to a NY6 Bowl game where half the team will declare for the draft
I will be shocked if tOSU is not 5. I have already started conducting my response for this board in the event that happens.
I think Bama and Tenn will be very interesting.
In BAMA's favor they have 2 losses that were against ranked teams. Both losses went down to the final minute.
Argument against them is they lost head to head against Tennessee. They lost to LSU and Tennessee beat LSU.
They also had 2 very tight games against lower ranked teams that went down to the wire. The one that stands out the most is 5-7 aTm.
Those games should probably be offset based on Tennessee games against Florida and Pitt.
In Tennessee's favor, they have head to head against Bama. Typically if it is close between 2 teams then head to head can certainly tilt things the Tennessee's way.
One thing to look at is that Bama was 7 and Tennessee was 10 so there was separation. Since 8 and 9 lost they will be sitting right next to each other in the standings.
The committee typically applies head to head in these situation but we will see.
Tennessee also has much better wins than Alabama and Tennessee beat LSU who beat Alabama.
Arguments against them. When the lost they did not do it with style points. In both cases they were blow and one of the teams was not ranked.
They also lost their Heisman Candidate QB but did put it to Vandy in the last game who has shown to be competitive.
I think base on these arguments I would put Tennessee ahead of Alabama. Anyway it clearly is an elimination decision.
tOSU 1 loss #2 Wins #7 #19
Bama 2 losses #6 #11 Wins #21 #25
Tenn 2 losses #1 NR Wins #6 #11 #20
